This is a sweet summer love story set on an island, and the title honestly couldn't be more perfect. The series follows a few different people whose lives cross paths in a seaside town, and it deals with things like grief, healing, and the random ways people fall in love. It takes a pretty familiar romance setup but adds a little twist, which makes the whole thing feel very heartfelt. It’s got 10 episodes that run about 50 to 55 minutes each, and it's a really nice blend of being playful, tender, and romantic. The plot centers on a young guy named Lava, whose mom sends him to live with his Uncle Pheng in a quiet coastal village with his uncle Pheng. This move forces him to grow up a bit and deal with some loss. Everything kicks off when Lava rescues Davin, a prince who has lost his memory after an accident. Since the stranger doesn't know who he is, Lava names him "Wave," and they start this back-and-forth relationship full of teasing and bickering that eventually...
Considered by many porn connoisseurs to be a genre-defining classic, the epic film BuckleRoos, a softcore porn flick about a pair of gay rodeo cowboys who discover love thanks to a magical belt buckle and a mysterious man in black, is the subject of this documentary. This documentary covers the 17 day behind the scenes look of making of this film. Now, I am not sure why anyone would come up with a behind the scenes documentary of a porn film, and even more bizarre is the fact that people like me end up watching it. What's wrong with me?
It starts with the director recounting how and his co-director came up with the idea and agreed to make the film. They walk us through process of short listing their lead actors, the places film was shot, focusing more on the various sex scenes and what went into making those. The film ends up with how successful this porn eventually became leading it to win many awards. I personally have not seen it, but I can see the crew, the directors, the production seemed all very much into making the film as f they were actually going to make a classic. The only two things interesting were when the cast and crew were asked if their family knew about their job and also, what is their alternate career besides this.
I thought this was going to be a good movie, but it turned out to be a weak porn about the gay porn industry. I have seen a few documentaries on the past about making of a porn film, so I wasn't really particularly enlightened by what I heard in the film. A lot of good looking guys, a few sleazy/dirty ones. No actual 'screwing' can be seen, so it is not a porno, but there is enough nudity to classify as a 'weak' one. The film feels more like a home movie than a genuine documentary, with the too-cheery cast and crew dropping campy bon mots for the camera while they go about their business preparing for and shooting ‘Buckleroos.” Acting is irrelevant, as there wasn't any that was noticeable...mostly just 'almost' sex, consistently. There is no reason you should watch this, unless, of course, if you happen to be a huge fan of the actual porn film, then I can see you loving this behind the scenes documentary as well. (2/10)
