Right in the beginning of the series, there is a disclaimer that says "approved in strict accordance with the Myanmar Video Censorship Board", which probably means that it will barely be anything more than a tepid bromance despite being promoted as a full BL series. And this is what ends up being. There is a hint of gay romance in the past but besides that, this show ends up being strictly a bromance and not really a BL. With 8 episodes of approx 20 minutes each, it's an easy, though a frustrating watch. Ling Yuang lives with his father and his aunt. When his father announces that he will remarry, neither of them have a choice. Enter the new wife with her son Shein Wah; who is same age and Ling. The dup now have to share a room and as per father's instructions get to know each other and become brothers. There haven't been many queer or BL themed shows from Myanmar, so this Burmese mini-series was a welcome change. With only 3 episodes plus one special episode, the total duration is just under 50 minutes, so this is a very easy watch. The story is simple love story that finds its feel thanks to the supportive group of friends. Thingyan is. Burmese festival, where one gets to sprinkle water on others as a way of symbolically wishing them good luck in the coming year. It is believed that water can fix mistakes, drive out bad luck, and bring greater health and happiness. It usually lasts 3-5 days. Always celebrating this festival together are two very good friends. Nway Thit and A-Ta have been close since they were young and always celebrate the Thingyan festival together. Secretly, however, A-Ta is in love with Nway Thit but does not know how to tell him. So, when Nway Thit tries to confess and sprinkle water on the girl he liked, A-Ta thwarted his efforts and interfered at every sin...

This is BL show from Myanmar, clearly inspired heavily from the Thai BL shows that are based in university and schools. The ending felt a bit open ended and something that I was not expecting and also I am not sure what the makers were trying to say, but at least the world of BL is expanding. With 9 episodes each of about 10 minutes, the show moves slow even though there is a proper story, I feel like the screenplay and direction lacks finesse, but good for the attempt I would say. Also what's up with the name? Should it be 'My Heart' looking at the heart on posters? The show starts with a girl being killed in a bar and fast forward one year later. Thu Kha is a young boy studying in school. He has some heart condition but is overall ok. A new student Nay Thit joins the same school after getting expelled from previous school. He becomes friends with Thu Kha and his friends and soon enough the two have some spark going between them, despite rumors around Nay Thit having anger...

Myanmar is not really known for BL content, but following the footsteps of its neighboring countries, here is a 8 part series that is a decent first step in the BL story direction. The episodes lasting 27 minutes each are sometimes slow but are not only trying to tell a story but are also a travelogue of sorts to showcase the rich cultural history of Bagan. As a first attempt it is decent, but there is so much obvious product placement and tourism focus that sometimes the core of the story gets lost somewhere in between. More on that later.
