This dark gritty Japanese BL is something I was not expecting. The story focuses on a Yakuza bodyguard assigned to kill his young boss. The premise sounds interesting but the execution was just weird. There were lot of problems with the show like violence, abuse, coercion and even forcing themselves sexually. Eventually it somewhere becomes. BL with some nonsense stuff. Thankfully the series was only 6 episodes of about 26-30 minutes each. Kataoka is a respected yakuza leader. His boss has grown old and frail, unable to manage the organization anymore. Leadership now falls to the boss's son, Keito. He assigns Odajima as Kataoka's new handler to keep him in check. Kataoka is impulsive and treats Odajima aslmost as a servant even forcing sex on him. But beneath the rough exterior, Kataoka occasionally reveals a gentler side. Odajima, on the other hand, is stoic and distant, keeping his emotions under tight control. What Kataoka doesn't know is that Odajima has a hidden agen...
Eroddity is not an actual word. Writer-director Steven Vasquez invented it. It's a combination of the words erotic and oddity, and that's exactly what this movie is. This four story anthology offers a voyeuristic window into the lives of ten gay youths. Follow as they enter a world of the odd, the erotic and the supernatural. To be honest, this felt like watching a soft porn (almost fun on porn) where we get to see a lot of young guys in full frontal nude with questionable acting skills.
“Forever Mine” - A confused boy seeks a love that will last him a lifetime. It deals with one of the most taboo subjects of gay relationship between siblings.
“A Mind of Their Own” - A teen’s long forgotten past leads to his short lived future. This was a weird one. A boy feels his boyfriend is cheating on him and goes to meet the man but it turns out it is in fact he himself who has been sleeping with this other man, except he always forgets it.
“Unsolved Christmas” - A Christmas present, in the hands of a young voyeur, leads to a holiday tale of woe in an. Extremely confusing and boring to be honest, just a platform for more erotica.
“The Way To a Man’s Heart”, an abused lover gets his revenge from beyond the grave. Gory and weird again.
The film attempts to play like a series of episodes, at times cheeky, always mysterious, with a sprinkle of life lesson for good measure. Unfortunately, the movie comes across as self-indulgent; a movie made just because they could. And while they were in the midst of congratulating themselves on a job well done, they utterly failed to deliver a humorous line, create an effecting scene, or surprise the audience. Far more odd than erotic. One of the lead guys who appears in most stories at least has a good ass which is on full display along with his beautiful dick (hard and soft). Also, what's the point of using gay actors to pretend being bi-sexual? The scenes where they have to do the obligatory bit with the girls, to get it over and done with, to be able to pass as "straight," are pathetic; utterly unconvincing. In todays age where sexual gratification is available in abundance, this collection nether gives you thrill, not story or acting and neither gratification. Avoid at all costs. (1/10)
