Ok, why would anyone watch this film? I have time and again said that I am all about experimental films where film makers get to show their creativity, but it baffles me that some of them take over indulgence to another level. Touted as an edgy, bold and passionate love story between two young men who are sometimes afraid to love each other, this film is almost 99% silent film with a couple of dialogues here and there. Also I really don't know the reason behind the title of the film. If you know it, please let me know.
Greek Translator Yiannis is looking for a room to live in, when he comes across the one that Chris has to offer in Berlin, they end up sharing far more than just the apartment. Filmed mostly in the interior of a flat, the movie's a voyeuristic portrait of the intimacy of two lonely souls, from the moment they met until the inevitable end. We get to see them interacting, making love in the kitchen, or just arguing, like any other couple. We literally just see this couple going through various emotions and the sequences don't necessarily are shown in order of the start or growth of their relationship. It starts with one often guys moving out, then moving in, the first kiss, first sex, first awkward silence, their fight etc. Pain, Lust, Happiness, Jealousy, Attraction, Peacefulness, Love and Anger are the eight emotions that film shows in its various chapters through this couple in love in an apartment. Each feeling is a different ‘stop’ of that journey Whether the characters will reach their destination or a dead-end, is left open for interpretation.
It literally feels like watching a couple, in real time, over a few days, going through various emotions. It is not my cup of tea, even though we do get to see some explicit sexual scenes which were probably improvised by the actors in real time. I watched it in 2x mode and still felt it slow. There is no way anyone would wanna watch this film unless you are the kind of person who spends your time spying on your neighbors with a binocular. This film literally feels like that. The only good thing was the extremely hot Greek Yiannis. The film is worth just to watch him in a few scenes naked. But besides that, easily a skip. (2/10)
