Apparently, there were a series of posts published online on some Thai website which became so popular that someone decided to make a movie out of it. I have such mixed feelings about this film. One part of me enjoyed this very basic and sort of emotional bromance/love story but then there were many places where the silliness of the whole proceeding just didn't make sense. And I think this is primarily to do with some amateurish direction nd real poor editing. There are quite a few long drawn shots with nothing happening that just bores the audience. More on all this later.
Ped's girlfriend Kai leaves him for another successful man. Heartbroken Ged tries to move on and gets a new job at the airport cargo. To his surprise, a male colleague of his named Oi, makes a very public declaration of how he loves him. Despite constant reminders by Ged that he is not gay, Oi likes to hang out and be with him all time and slowly they become real good friends, while Oi continues to flirt with Ped. Sometime later Ped's ex-girlfriend leaves her abusive man and pleads to move n back with Bed, who makes it very clear that they can never get back together. Still Kai tries her best to seduce him along with Oi on the other. Interestingly, once Per gets to know real Oi and his past life on how lonely he has been, he feels special affinity towards him. Ged confides this in Kai, who says that she will try to seduce Oi to make him straight, since Ged doesn't want to be gay. When Oi finds out about this, he cannot believe, and he leaves. The job and also sends an email that he will leave Ped's life forever. Its then Ped realizes how much he loves and cares for Oi and sometimes its not about gender but you emotionally connect to a person. He frantically searches for him everywhere and eventually finds him on a rooftop which used to be their spot and coffees his love for Oi.
The film, although had great potential and a warm story, but somehow the translated version on the screen was not good at all. The acting was basic but mostly I think it was the direction and the very patchy editing, that killed it. The movie wasn't offensively bad, even though plenty of times Kai is shown to be this girl who will do anything for her benefit, moving easily from man to man. There were a few good scenes like when Oi washes Ped's hair or when Ped tells Kai that he felt something in his heart when he was unbuttoning Oi's shirt. Also them spending a night together as friends but Oi still being mischievous was quite nice. Another thing I like was Oi's love for Bed was pure. It wasn't lust or anything, because the one night when Ped gets drunk and wakes up next morning confused if anything happened the previous night, Oi replies "I didn't do anything. I don't even know how." The couple of scenes with Ped's and Oi's boss were quite funny actually, although I am really not sure if they were supposed to be.
Overall the film is a harmless fluff that won't leave you with to many memories. Don’t expect any intense or even satisfying romance and intimacy cuz you’re not gonna get it. The most you’re going to get is hugging, one cuddle on the bed, and a few shirtless scenes. And thankfully, the film has a sort of happy ending. (4/10)
