Hello Stranger: The Movie (Filipino)

Needless to say I was super excited when I learnt of this film. Hello Stranger was one of the better series that came out in 2020, with a heartening storyline and good chemistry and acting, which I enjoyed a lot. So, naturally my expectations form this film was quite high and I couldn't wait to see what the makers have done to take the story forward. This, as expected, is a young gay romance and a coming-of-age movie all wrapped into one charming and heartwarming experience. It has the right amount of romance, drama and life lessons that the viewers would appreciate.

The story is simple. We are told that Mico and Xavier are no longer a couple but are cordial to each other as friends. The class is supposed to go to the beach for a week long literary tour. Xavier and Crystal come together, while Mico drives with his gang of three friends, still missing Xavier. Once in the resort, Xavier and Mico are forced to become roommates together and in multiple flashbacks we are told what happened. Right after Mico and Xavier came together, Crystal's parents got divorced and she was in a very bad place, so Xavier didn't break up with her. Mico waited for a while but eventually gave up realizing that Xavier will never break up. During multiple fun activities and also due to the proximity, Xavier realizes that whatever happens, his true love will always be for Mico and luckily Crystal realizes that too and asks Xavier for break-up so that he can be true to himself. Initially reluctant Mico refuses to get back together with him because he can't afford to break his heart again, but in a romantic finale, not only does the couple come together, but they also profess their love for each other in front of everyone. No more hiding.

I liked the fact that they didn't make a follow up of the every successful series, just for the sake of it. This was Avery valid story to tell. One of the things that had stood out for me was the three friends of Mico who are always his support structure. Even in this film, they continue to do their part and we also get to see a bit more of the romantic relationship between two of his friends. One of my favorite moments was when Crystal realizes that she will never again get the same kind of love from Xavier and asks "when is the right time to let someone go". It was Avery interesting perspective, that I had never thought of but it makes total sense, at least in the context of this film. Mico and Xavier still have that crackling chemistry and yearning of love for each other which is very evident. That deserves applause. I can understand and empathize with what Xavier did and why. He is a god person and can't help being the reason for someone's sadness, which is well explained towards the end in one of the read-outs that he does about love. Mico's character was good. He had respect for himself and was ready to fight for it. Mico has substantially improved in his acting with Xavier giving him the hot sexy support that most of the romantic films have. I was so excited they brought back the funny teacher's character in this film as well. I wish there was more her. She is hilarious. On the flip side, some unnecessary conflicts were there and could have been edited out well to reduce the duration of the film by maybe 10 minutes. Introduction of the hot writer that makes Xavier jealous was a good twist. So glad the makers didn't force a love triangle there. Oh! And finally we do get a beautiful kiss from the leads. Too cute.

Overall, a very worthy film that takes the stories of the characters we have come to love further in their life. Hopefully this tie the couple will stick together. But you never know. They are all still so young, and the life has all kinds of possibilities in front of them. (7.5/10)

Definitely going to check this out when I get the time, looks promising.
Very nice completion to the series. The whole cast must have been happy the movie was shot outdoors, they were all very good and it felt like they had more material to embody their characters.
Now that I saw the movie, I would definitely recommend hello stranger as a second choice, for experienced viewers who already watched the classics.
Fillipino BLs are really good.

it would have been definitely nice for actors to work together after shooting the series in isolation

We got the kiss, 'nuff said.
I wanted to fast forward the series to remind me of everything and ended up falling in love with it again, watching it completely. For the movie I agree with everything you said. The chemistry is there, the friends and crazy teacher too, Xavier is as hot as ever, and Miko showing respect for himself was very nice. That scene where he burst into tears and anger moved me. I also like the fact that the possible "ennemies" (the rival and the girlfriend) weren't bad persons at all. Crystal was already more mature than the others in the series, not being the typical evil girlfriend but rather the sentitive one, and here she has her weaknesses as well. Xavier/Crystal relationship was flawed but still very understandable as they do care for each other. Then above all that really, most importantly, we got the XavMi kiss lol.

Yeah. The kiss was definitely a huge bonus. And you are right. People are not bad, its the circumstances that make them act in a certain way. The film was a good improvement to take these characters forward.

The Shortest Distance is Round 3: Fallen Flowers

Continuing with the weird trilogy of "The Shortest Distance", I am so glad that finally I am done with part 3 and won't have to deal with this again in future. Thankfully, as of now the makers have not announced any further parts; which will save all of us on this earth from the embarrassment of watching this in near future. After the first 10 minutes are used in sort of recapping bits of first two parts, the story moves forward. Haruto is now starting to have feelings for Ruka, the mysterious pole dancer from second part. In a fit of rage, Ruka ends up killing the goat man and to save him and Haruto, Shibahara asks them to go underground. Meanwhile Shibahara continues the search for Seiya (the guy who had cut off Haruto's penis). It turns out Seiya is now also taking care of the original club owner from part 1. Both of them were released after they had informed Shibahara of Aoyama's secret location. Shibahara tortures Seiya's boyfriend leading to Seiya killin

One Summer Night (Korean)

I really wanted to like this film but for non native speakers, these movie leaves a lot to be understood and the way scenes were unfolding in front of me, I wasn't sure many times what was really going on. The story had potential button getting any back story on any of the characters limited my ability to empathize with any of these actors. Film starts with two North Korea military guys Yong Joon and Jae Sung having sex and they are caught red handed and they run. Three years later we see Yong Joon in Seoul leading a very mundane and poor life. He has a boyfriend Tae-Kyu, who is a weird guy. He is carefree, doesn't do any work and is completely emotional and financially dependent on Young Joon. In fact, even Yong Joon will go to any lengths to protect him , fend for him and taking care of him to the extent of even taking up prostitution. Suddenly one day Jae Sung appears in their life again. His motivation is not clear but it is obvious he wants Yong Joon back in his life, who

Ultimate masturbation: Shigoki no yama (Japanese) [The Ultimate Masturbation]

I would never know what was the point behind making this film. Was it supposed to be a comedy, cos it wasn't. It wasn't even porn. It was just a silly attempt at making something absolutely senseless and ridiculous. The story, as well as direction is equally shoddy. You could laugh for having seen something so bad, but I wouldn't call that comedy. An old man runs a camp about gay masturbation. The explanation given is that gays masturbate for pleasure unlike straight men, for whom the act is seen as shame or because they can't find a woman. One day a straight man shows up and wants to join the camp for his thesis. After discussion, he is allowed in. Rules include that you can masturbate together, you can masturbate one another, but there is no fellatio or anal sex. Some students of course breaks rule. The teacher then talks about 2 forms of masturbation which gives ultimate pleasure. He shows one without touching and then refuses to talk of the other. Somehow suddenly,
