Bonding: Season 1 & 2 (Series)

We have not seen many shows, besides the very famous movie, where the main protagonist is a dominatrix. I was very curious about this show since one of the leads is a dominatrix and other is her gay best friend. I couldn't wait check out this funny series. So I binged on two seasons of total 15 episodes of about 15 minutes each. It was actually a nice , funny and easy breezy watch.

Tiff is a grad student in New York City who is moonlighting as a dominatrix Mistress May. She is doing that to make money to pay for her classes. When she reconnects with former high school BFF Pete, a recently out gay man, she recruits the cash-strapped man to be her assistant, performing such tasks as cleaning up after her clients and serving as her bodyguard. He takes the gig because he needs money and his career as a standup comedian is not really flourishing by any means. Pete is now Carter. This pushes Pete to get out of his comfort zone, be more adventurous and he eventually meets his boyfriend Josh. A boy named Doug is always woo-ing Tiff in her class and eventually they go out. The series in short episodes follows and shows the character progression off these individuals. Season 1 is more of building character arc including fallouts between Tiff and Pete. The second season is slightly more serious, with some respect being given to this profession and taking it seriously. We also see how the individual relationships of Pete and Tiff with their respective partners evolve in this journey. This dark comedy follows the unlikely pair as Tiff and Peter's new professional relationship redefines their friendship. More importantly, though, it helps them find themselves.

There are still a lot of open questions and maybe there would be a season 3. We really don't know much about Tiff'a background. Why is she so scared to let herself go for love? The amazing guy Doug is all over her but she has this layer blocking her. We never get know more about that. In contrast, about Pete we know that he is hiding his insecurities behind humor which comes out little by little in every episode. Both their partners Doug and Josh have brilliant roles and they do full justice to it. Pete's roommate is also so funny and so are all the clients of Mistress May that we meet. all these characters add a little quirkiness to the show. I somehow thought Doug was quite hot and funny. Some of the fetishes shown in season 1 where Mistress May and Carter pair to make money are just down outright hilarious. I loved every single episode. Season 2 took a more darker, emotional and serious turn. We see the characters' imperfections, emotional baggage and a secret about their past with each other. Pete has started using Carter as his comic acts and starts becoming popular whereas Tiff decides she will be full time dominatrix because she is good at it. Tiff and Pete’s complicated friendship is more exposed than ever, bringing a war of differing opinions and unspoken truths.

I really didn't know much about the whole Dom culture but the series manifest our desires and bring light to the dominatrix community. While season 1 had a large dose of full on comedy, season 2 gives more respect that community while still being funny. For all the main characters and every single supporting character, I thoroughly enjoyed the show and would recommend it to stream on Netflix. (7/10)

We laughed so much on season 1! Will start season 2 tonight then (it's good if it's a bit more serious, because I felt it was really rainbows and butterflies in bondage world lol).
This show really makes me think of sex education on netflix as well, I think they have the same dynamic.

I hope you enjoy S2. Sex Education was a very nice show. Much better than my original expectations.

Season 2 was a little bit less good imo. Partly because I found Pete irritating this time, and Josh coming out scene was ridiculous. However the mistress May part was handled a lot better. I don't know much of how accurate and true it is, but it was very interresting. And Doug is still such the nice surprise of the show! At first you would think he is the usual hitting on girl cliche but he turned out as the character I liked the most.
Now I need to get my hands on it's a sin (I already know I'm going to love it: Russell T Davis!!!)

Excited for you to watch It's A Sin

The Shortest Distance is Round 3: Fallen Flowers

Continuing with the weird trilogy of "The Shortest Distance", I am so glad that finally I am done with part 3 and won't have to deal with this again in future. Thankfully, as of now the makers have not announced any further parts; which will save all of us on this earth from the embarrassment of watching this in near future. After the first 10 minutes are used in sort of recapping bits of first two parts, the story moves forward. Haruto is now starting to have feelings for Ruka, the mysterious pole dancer from second part. In a fit of rage, Ruka ends up killing the goat man and to save him and Haruto, Shibahara asks them to go underground. Meanwhile Shibahara continues the search for Seiya (the guy who had cut off Haruto's penis). It turns out Seiya is now also taking care of the original club owner from part 1. Both of them were released after they had informed Shibahara of Aoyama's secret location. Shibahara tortures Seiya's boyfriend leading to Seiya killin

One Summer Night (Korean)

I really wanted to like this film but for non native speakers, these movie leaves a lot to be understood and the way scenes were unfolding in front of me, I wasn't sure many times what was really going on. The story had potential button getting any back story on any of the characters limited my ability to empathize with any of these actors. Film starts with two North Korea military guys Yong Joon and Jae Sung having sex and they are caught red handed and they run. Three years later we see Yong Joon in Seoul leading a very mundane and poor life. He has a boyfriend Tae-Kyu, who is a weird guy. He is carefree, doesn't do any work and is completely emotional and financially dependent on Young Joon. In fact, even Yong Joon will go to any lengths to protect him , fend for him and taking care of him to the extent of even taking up prostitution. Suddenly one day Jae Sung appears in their life again. His motivation is not clear but it is obvious he wants Yong Joon back in his life, who

Ultimate masturbation: Shigoki no yama (Japanese) [The Ultimate Masturbation]

I would never know what was the point behind making this film. Was it supposed to be a comedy, cos it wasn't. It wasn't even porn. It was just a silly attempt at making something absolutely senseless and ridiculous. The story, as well as direction is equally shoddy. You could laugh for having seen something so bad, but I wouldn't call that comedy. An old man runs a camp about gay masturbation. The explanation given is that gays masturbate for pleasure unlike straight men, for whom the act is seen as shame or because they can't find a woman. One day a straight man shows up and wants to join the camp for his thesis. After discussion, he is allowed in. Rules include that you can masturbate together, you can masturbate one another, but there is no fellatio or anal sex. Some students of course breaks rule. The teacher then talks about 2 forms of masturbation which gives ultimate pleasure. He shows one without touching and then refuses to talk of the other. Somehow suddenly,
