Why.. Why!! Film makers try and just stretch a simple story behind what's needed and test the patience of the audience. This is a story we have seen many many times, albeit in different settings. In this specific case, this could easily have been a 20 min short film, with just proper editing. Instead, it is stretched to almost n hour long film, which really adds nothing at all. 2024 is not starting on a good note for me.
Hector is a happily married man with a wife and a daughter living in s ams all town in Mexico. At work, his partner is leaving the company and a new guy Andre joins instead whom hector has to train. It is public knowledge that Andre is gay. Soon you see Andre starts to making moves on Hector, who mistaken by surprise and lets his displeasure known to Andre. But one day after work, Andre just kisses hector (Hell0! worktime sexual harassment anyone?). Now, Hector can't get the kiss out of his mind and lies to his wife that he needs to go to a business trip for two days. Instead he goes to Andre's house and confesses to him that he has always surpassed these feelings al his life for fear of God and society and that this cold change it, but it can't continue. They spend good time together. Once he goes back home, he tells his wife the truth who refuses to accept it. Meanwhile Andre is pushing him to make their affair known. Depressed and unsure of what he really wants to do, he ends up taking his life. But there is twist in the end that it was probably all a dream. Hector wakes up with Andre calling his name. So we dont know what parts of th story were a dream v/s actually happening.
Just about everything of this film is extremely sloppy and bored. Right from a tacky screenplay, bad editing, poorly acted, random scenes joined together and the worse offense of direction. Everything seemed so theatrical nd unbelievable. The characters had absolutely zero chemistry. Also , what's up with Andre making these bold moves on Hector. Firstly, this is highly inappropriate and secondly he is his boss/colleague. I mean is that guy so desperate? I just don't get it. I'm sure the people involved in this project thought they were making a socially meaningful film commenting on the stultifying influence of the church and on social mores in a macho society. However, they completely failed. It is just a bad bad bad film. (1.5/10)
