The Journey To Killing You (Japanese Series)

This dark gritty Japanese BL is something I was not expecting. The story focuses on a Yakuza bodyguard  assigned to kill his young boss. The premise sounds interesting but the execution was just weird. There were lot of problems with the show like violence, abuse, coercion and even forcing themselves sexually. Eventually it somewhere becomes. BL with some nonsense stuff. Thankfully the series was only 6 episodes of about 26-30 minutes each. Kataoka is a respected yakuza leader. His boss has grown old and frail, unable to manage the organization anymore. Leadership now falls to the boss's son, Keito. He assigns Odajima as Kataoka's new handler to keep him in check. Kataoka is impulsive and treats Odajima aslmost as a servant even forcing sex on him. But beneath the rough exterior, Kataoka occasionally reveals a gentler side. Odajima, on the other hand,  is stoic and distant, keeping his emotions under tight control. What Kataoka doesn't know is that Odajima has a hidden agen...

Sobretudo, Amor (Portuguese Series) [Above All, Love]

Another one of those low budget, probably made with home video, but better than amateurish production, this time from Brazil. The story had decent potential, and to be honest the acting and all wasn't al that bad. But it will take a long time for the makers to reach any kind of decent viewership, since this was almost amateurish but showed signs of improvement compared to their last outing. Also at only 6 episodes lasting about 20 minutes each, its a decent fast watch.

University student Italo lives with his mother and is breaking up with his boyfriend since he cheated on him. His best friend is a girl Marisa, who is in this trip relationship with a gay/bi couple. When rumors start happening that an ex-convict is moving into their building, Italo's mother wants to move out of the building. One day Italo meets Daniel a new guy in the building who it turns out s the same convict guy. Before you realize, the duo start falling for each other, have sex and are spending more time with each other. But then Italo's mother tells him that Daniel actually went to prison for killing his father. When Italo's confronts him, Daniel is heartbroken saying that he was just using him. The mother is happy to see them break since she never approved of him and conspires to get Italo back with his ex-boyfriend. But eventually Daniel tells Italo the whole truth and what really happened and their love only gets stronger. He is also finally able to convince his mother of heir true love and in a bizarre finale where there is a fake engagement of Italo and his ex-boyfriend, Italo confesses his love for Daniel in front of everyone.

The stories decent and interesting. I guess the point is we all deserve second chances in life. I understand why Daniel would like to hide his truth from Italo, but it was weird to see him get mad when Italo confronts him for truth. I mean, this is something you can't hide from and it would have been better to be honest. In my opinion, Italo was being a lot more reasonable here. Marisa's parallel story of dating a gay couple was also interesting and had a good side bar when she has false pregnancy alarm. We don't get o see too much backstory of Italo's ex-boyfriend on how and why he cheated, but the guy was really cute. Much better looking than our lead couple. Also, I have to say Italo can move from guy to guy very fast. He starts googling on Daniel, literally the day he breaks up with his ex-boyfriend and then when he has fight with Daniel, he goes and has sex with his sex just because he is in fragile state of mind since his cat has lost. I mean, I don't mind people being promiscuous but then him judging his ex is kind of two-faced. Also what was up with his flowery shorts. They were not doing doing him any good and were a jarring distraction to my superficial brain. The acting was strictly average and so were the dialogues. This production company need to continue to work on slight improvements and hopefully someday they will make a far better product. (4/10)

Sei no Gekiyaku (Japanese) [Dangerous Drugs of Sex]

Every person has their own unique way of dealing with loss. This film is as much a psychological thriller as it is a soft porn BDSM portrayal of two young men that makes the film overall horrifying as well as humane. It is really hard to describe the genre of this film in one word. Its important not that the film has some really disturbing scenes so if you go into seeing this film, please proceed with caution. Although any sexual non-consensual activity is not ok, this film has its won strange way of showing that suicide is not the only solution to all life's problems. Makoto is a regular office goer, who just finds out that his girlfriend is probably cheating on him. ON top of it, his parents sudden death coming back from a trip that he forced them to take, he gets completely dejected and decides to commit suicide. Unknown to him, he is saved by mysterious man Yoda Ryoji, and he wakes up finding himself tied up in leather and belts in a very BDSM setting. This mysterious saver soo...

Drug Shore (Chinese)

Apparently tis film was adapted by a true story Well, true or not, movies/series about drugs are not easy to watch. I have always said that drugs is like the end of life for anyone. For those who sink into this sea of addiction, some manage to swim upstream to recovery, while others cannot make it to the shore. The film may not be the best, but it does have a noble intention to remind everyone of the evil affects of drugs and combining that with sex. Ah Zhe is in a happy relationship with his influencer boyfriend. On his partner's birthday, they end up going to a party, which interestingly is being hosted at a drug dealer's house and this is where for the first time he is exposed to the world of drugs. The duo somehow do it just enough and come back home but next day Ah She gets invited by the dealer Xiao Fei for a meal. The dealer has a soft corner for Ah Zhe, but before anyone realizes, Ah Zhe's life spirals out of control when slowly he starts doing more and more drugs, ...

The Shortest Distance is Round 3: Fallen Flowers

Continuing with the weird trilogy of "The Shortest Distance", I am so glad that finally I am done with part 3 and won't have to deal with this again in future. Thankfully, as of now the makers have not announced any further parts; which will save all of us on this earth from the embarrassment of watching this in near future. After the first 10 minutes are used in sort of recapping bits of first two parts, the story moves forward. Haruto is now starting to have feelings for Ruka, the mysterious pole dancer from second part. In a fit of rage, Ruka ends up killing the goat man and to save him and Haruto, Shibahara asks them to go underground. Meanwhile Shibahara continues the search for Seiya (the guy who had cut off Haruto's penis). It turns out Seiya is now also taking care of the original club owner from part 1. Both of them were released after they had informed Shibahara of Aoyama's secret location. Shibahara tortures Seiya's boyfriend leading to Seiya killin...
