This documentary is nearly twenty years old now, and it follows a gay couple as they navigate the stressful and exciting journey of their first pregnancy through surrogacy. You get to see it all— the hope, the nerves, and the dramatic hurdles they have to clear along the way. Back in the day, this was probably a massive deal, but since I’ve known a few gay couples who’ve gone through this exact process, some parts felt a bit dated to me. I liked bits and pieces of it, but I also felt like the film stays pretty surface-level. It doesn't really dive into the deep, complicated reality of life after the baby actually arrives. If only raising a kid were actually as simple as this movie makes it look! Erik and Mark have been together in New York for ten years, and since they feel solid in their relationship, they decide they’re ready to raise a child. They start the hunt for a surrogate and eventually connect with Wen, a wife and mom from Maine who agrees to carry the baby for a standard...
Follow up to the film I just reviewed, and I really don't even know why I'm watching these films. I really need to stop. But here is a quick review of this soft porn Japanese Pink film which continues to focus on the gay S&M word. This time it becomes a murder mystery of sorts interspersed with a whole lot of sexual scenes as you would expect.
The story here is again basic. Of late there have been a couple of murders where after a fierce S&M play, young men are found dead strangulated. So a police detective is put on duty to find the culprit. To find the details, he needs to visit the famous S&M club in the area. In the course of the investigation, the journalist of course discovers a love of s&m himself and indulges multiple times with one the performers and is eventually courted by the killer himself. Thankfully when things go out of hand, his lover from the S&M club is there to save him, but in al likelihood, the investigator has learnt something about himself.
The mystery solution was obvious, but who cares? Honestly the most impressive thing in this whole movie was that they did not try to make the s&m couple into an actual romantic couple, and even at the end didn't really imply it-- they were 2 people exploring a world of experience utilizing each other's bodies. Here again, there are full on sexual stimulation scenes with almost 80-90% time of this hour long film focused on sex scenes. But then thats the point. I just need to get better myself at identifying these films so I don't waste my time watching them and feel obligated to review them here, as much as I am trying to keep my blog focused on actual good content and not turn this into semi porn blog. Id still stay away. (2.5/10)
