This is one of the more cheesiest and awful gay vampire films I have seen. I mean I have seen a few gay vampire American films that have been outrightly bad. This one doesn't stoop so low at that level (if thats any consolation); but despite that its still pretty lame. Its cheesy, full of cliches but so bad that at certain points I actually ended up enjoying things. I know I know, its embarrassing but what can I do.
When Ai Fei gets into a bar fight, a vampire Thomas saves him and bites him to save his life. Thomas brings him home to slowly fully convert into vampire in the next three months. Initially disgusted with the idea Ai Fei wants to run away but eventually gives in. In fact the dup soon find themselves falling for each other and become lovers. All this while Thomas has been hiding a secret. He is in search of a 'Vampire Bible' to fix something from the past thats related to Ai Fei. It turns out that he accidentally killed his parents and wants to do right by them. But he needs to avoid demon hunters. When Ai Fei finds this out, he joins forces with demon hunters to nab Thomas, but thanks t the 'Vampire Bible' Ai Fei finally remembers the truth from many past years of how Ai Fei and Thomas have been lovers forever and there is a larger mystery. Ai Fei finally realizes his dragon power but its too late and Thomas has turned into stone. Maybe he will reincarnate as Ai Fei did.
The story of the film is actually quite interesting, how much ever it may be hard to believe and buy into. The production quality and VFX work of the teams not bad, considering probably the makers didn't have much budget to begin with. There wasn't much gay romance on screen but clearly the film focussed the love between Thomas and Ai Fei with vampire and all that as the background. The back story of all of them helps audience connect with the story. The demon hunters angle was a bit too much for me to handle especially when the female characters just came out as emotionless bitches. I know, it feels like I keep going back and for the on whether the film was decent or outrightly bad, but trust me such is this movie. You must have heard that sometimes things are so bad that they feel good. This feels one such case. Overall, I would say that the film campy throughout and bit tacky as well, but there were some random cute and quirky parts too. This movie is rolled into the good, bad and the ugly category. You decide for yourself. (3/10)
