Light Up is an intimate documentary that focuses on the lives of five people in Atlanta—four Black gay men and one Black transgender woman. It’s a really personal look at their backstories and how they’ve dealt with prejudice and mental health struggles because they felt they had to hide who they truly were. The big thing they all share is that every person interviewed has found a way to push through those hard times. Now, they're all at a place where they feel totally comfortable being themselves and speaking their truth. The five people sharing their journeys are Simone Tisci, Derek Jae, Octavius Terry, Obio Jones, and Benjamin Carlton. Derek Jae is already pretty well-known from reality TV, while Simone Tisci is a successful makeup artist who is now working on breaking into acting. Then there’s Octavius Terry, who used to be a record-breaking track and field star. He actually cut his athletic career short because he was so scared his coaches and teammates would find out he was ...
What a beautiful dvd cover but contrastingly it is a massively confusing storyline and a simple concept stretched beyond 70 minutes for no reason. The audio quality of the version Is aw was so bad, that it was really hard to understand what the two leads were talking to each other. The eerie woods and their non stop walks, with some sex scenes in between, made absolutely no sense at all to me.
This supposedly period drama, shows two lovers who have escaped navy and are on the run now, hiding in the woods near a huge mansion. They are trying to make a life on their own terms while just aimlessly navigating through woods and having sex. During all this time, one of the lads has dreams about a guy who he knew warning him about the devil and the need to get away as the evil place they’re in. Is he just losing his mind or is there really something to be scared of?
This film is not a straightforward film and makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Much of it is strange, rather creepy and it’s unclear what’s going on. To be fair, the actors were very good looking and tried their best to do whatever they could do to keep the proceedings going, but clearly a stronger hand was needed to keep things on track. The two guys have amazing chemistry, are very much in love with each other deeply. But how much of love can you watch between two men who are talking gibberish that makes absolutely no sense to you as an audience. Clearly there was no budget for the filming a simple story line plot was stretched beyond anyone could handle. This secret path leads to nowhere. (1/10)
