This is a story about two very different individuals Kaishin and Ai, who grew up in completely opposite environments and have different values, are at each other's throats, but gradually they find it difficult to separate. With 10 episodes each of about 30 minutes, it follows the usual pattern of love, insecurity, misunderstandings and reunion. The one difference here is the two strangers go to bed and have sex in the every first episode, so we are making progress in that space at least.
Ai is a writer and to focus on his write, he travels to an island for inspiration on his next love story. The person who takes care of him on the island is the island's popular tour guide, Kaishin. He is handsome and extremely popular with island population. Somehow there is attraction and even though Ai finds him quite annoying, the two end of having sex. This gives Ai some sort of inspiration and he starts to begin work on his novel completely ignoring Kaishin, who finds this behaviour odd at first. Eventually they start to make progress. Whenever the two are intimate, Ai gets inspiration but he never lets Kaishin get really close to him emotionally. Meanwhile Kaishin has started to fall for him hard. So when it's time to head back to city, Ai offers him a contract where he will pay Kaishin to live with him and have sex and make love when necessary but he can never fall in love. Kaishin agrees because he is hoping that he will eventually make Ai also fall in love with him. But Ai has history of abuse by the father towards his mother and since then he has ben totally opposed to the idea of love. Back in city more drama around novel comes in, the father comes back to harass his son but Kaishin saves him and Kaishin also becomes close to Ai's sister and niece. Kaishin tries his best to convince that not all love is same but Ai has serious blockers towards love. It's only when Kaishin goes back o the island, he realizes how much he misses him and how and why he needs to give love a chance. There is also a parallel GL story between Ai's assistant/manager and a celebrity.
Apparently a remake of a Thai show, this one has received better reviews. I havent seen the original, so I cannot comment on that aspect. I haven't seen any much Japanese BL that shows this much eroticism and intimacy with such grace. İt's rare to find a light fluffy intimacy that shows raw sex like that for that long on screen, usually if they exist they tent to be cut short, but there is no censoring scenes here. The characters go through growth and you can see both why Kaishin is falling hard for this guy who makes it very clear that he has no place for love. The trauma from childhood is so string that the boy freezes even as he sees his father come back in his life. A lot of focus was also given to the girls BL story (almost 40-50%), way too much for my liking, so I just fast forwarded their scene, although first few episodes of their interactions were funny. The two actors playing their roles were fine, Kaishin is easy on eyes, buy other was Ai who took me a while to warm upto. His actions were odd when he is on the island, but when back in the city and when you get to know more about his background, things start to make sense. Overall a decent show, nothing out of the ordinary but not bad either. (6/10)
