Sweetheart Service (Korean Series)

When the show started, I thought this was going to be a nice feel good no-nonsense show and to be fair, for the most part, it stayed true. But somewhere the whole concept of jealousy, manipulation etc just took away the straight forward fun that this show could have even us. With just 12 episodes of about 16-20 minutes, this was a light humorous and easy watch with some very good looking leads. There was also a longer version of episode 12 showing us the eventual culmination and happy future for all.

We meet Yuha, a young boy who does odd jobs here and there to keep afloat. He lives with his older brother Taeha, who runs a bar. He is not his real brother but they were both alone as kids and grew up together with Taeha taking good care of Yuha. Yuha wants to become independent. His odd jobs include nude modeling, toilet cleaning and pretending to be someone's lover. During one such incident, his paths cross with Min U. The guy works in a IT company and is tired of his family connecting him with girls and his reputation in office as anti social. He hires Yuha to pretend to be his boyfriend so that he can earn more respect and his family can get off his back, which works to a great extent. Seeing Yuha buy snacks with another boy doesn't go well with Taeha, who has secretly harbored feelings for Yuha. Yuha's closest friend Jaemin meanwhile likes Taeha but can never confess his feelings. Just when everything is going ok between Yuha and Min U, enter a villain girl, CEO and close friend of Min U, who gives an offer to Yuha to pretend to be her boyfriend for much larger sum. She also manipulates Taeha into leaving Yuha alone. This is where the whole series gets messy for no reason at all. Anyway senses prevail, Min U realizes that he is really falling for Yuha and wants him in his life for good, the girl realizes how stupid she was to play such games and through Jaemin's love, Taeha now will learn to live without Yuha but with a new love.

The adorable show started off really well. It was light hearted, with young very good looking leads and just fluffy kinda show. When Min U hires Yuha, their chemistry and the scenes where Yuha pretends to be his boyfriend in front of t if friends and then with family were cute to watch. You could also see how Taeha is clearly in love with Yuha who has no idea about it. Everything was going fine till the makers decided to just bring the plot crashing down by bringing in the sweet but manipulative girl. It was just not necessary. There was already enough drama that could have been added with the four characters. This show needed to stick with its charming and comforting tone that was really working very well for me. The casting feels polished as every character has a likeable quality, even in their quirks, and there’s a familiar comfort in their company. I found myself immediately drawn to the main leads, whose clashing personalities are quite appealing to me. When it comes to looks, I felt Taeha was absolutely gorgeous. Even though he was not the main lead, he is strikingly handsome with a beautiful smile. The short episodes of the series was a huge plus and thankfully no side character stories were added just for the heck of it. Overall, I would say that this series was a good light and cute watch, where I found myself even chuckling at few times. The 3-4 scenes where Yuha poses as a nude model were nice and cute to watch. The passionate kisses in the last episode were icing. (6.5/10)

Every person has their own unique way of dealing with loss. This film is as much a psychological thriller as it is a soft porn BDSM portrayal of two young men that makes the film overall horrifying as well as humane. It is really hard to describe the genre of this film in one word. Its important not that the film has some really disturbing scenes so if you go into seeing this film, please proceed with caution. Although any sexual non-consensual activity is not ok, this film has its won strange way of showing that suicide is not the only solution to all life's problems. One Summer Night (Korean)

I really wanted to like this film but for non native speakers, these movie leaves a lot to be understood and the way scenes were unfolding in front of me, I wasn't sure many times what was really going on. The story had potential button getting any back story on any of the characters limited my ability to empathize with any of these actors. Film starts with two North Korea military guys Yong Joon and Jae Sung having sex and they are caught red handed and they run. Three years later we see Yong Joon in Seoul leading a very mundane and poor life. He has a boyfriend Tae-Kyu, who is a weird guy. He is carefree, doesn't do any work and is completely emotional and financially dependent on Young Joon. In fact, even Yong Joon will go to any lengths to protect him , fend for him and taking care of him to the extent of even taking up prostitution. Suddenly one day Jae Sung appears in their life again. His motivation is not clear but it is obvious he wants Yong Joon back in his life, who ...

The Shortest Distance is Round 3: Fallen Flowers

Continuing with the weird trilogy of "The Shortest Distance", I am so glad that finally I am done with part 3 and won't have to deal with this again in future. Thankfully, as of now the makers have not announced any further parts; which will save all of us on this earth from the embarrassment of watching this in near future. After the first 10 minutes are used in sort of recapping bits of first two parts, the story moves forward. Haruto is now starting to have feelings for Ruka, the mysterious pole dancer from second part. In a fit of rage, Ruka ends up killing the goat man and to save him and Haruto, Shibahara asks them to go underground. Meanwhile Shibahara continues the search for Seiya (the guy who had cut off Haruto's penis). It turns out Seiya is now also taking care of the original club owner from part 1. Both of them were released after they had informed Shibahara of Aoyama's secret location. Shibahara tortures Seiya's boyfriend leading to Seiya killin...
