This Vietnamese show isn't exactly groundbreaking, but it definitely keeps you hooked. It’s a quick watch with 10 episodes that only last about 15 to 20 minutes each, and even though it uses all the usual BL tropes, it really works because you can't help but root for the underdog. The romance actually takes its time to show up and then wraps up pretty fast, but the characters still feel way more relatable than in a lot of other shows like this. The story follows Phuc, who moves from Hanoi to Saigon to open his dream bar and live with his girlfriend. Things go sideways immediately when he arrives a day early to surprise her and catches her cheating, so he breaks up with her and leaves. He ends up reaching out to his old childhood neighbors, Cong and his sister Han, who he hasn't seen in years. The siblings are struggling on their own with a massive debt and Han’s poor health. Han thinks her brother works at a convenience store, but Cong is actually a heavy for a criminal gro...
OMG!! This show was so bad that it was almost an embarrassment to watch. Please don't ask me why and how I ended up watching this. I do understand that this was likely made with zero budgets , on phone, with friends for YouTube, but then how I came to know about this and spent my time wasting on this is beyond me. Even writing this review feels like an utter waste of time, so I will keep it short. On a bright side, the show was only 4 episodes of about 18 minutes each.
It is a confusing story, to be honest. Yohan has some disease and is soon dying. His boyfriend Ace, who is only pretending to be in love with him because it was his dying mother's wish, wants to leave him but thinks he will come out as an asshole to leave him while he is dying. Meanwhile a group of three random friends keep an eye on happenings all around. One of them figures out that the guy dying is actually Yohan's twin Gohan. At some point they switched (yes!! Kill me). This random dud era the real Yohan profess their love for one another. Meanwhile Ace decides that he needs to breakup with fake Yohan to move on in life, which he does breaking his heart. Even though Gohan is dying, he did love Ace a lot. Eventually the guy dies and the real Yohan and the new guy become a couple.
This story has no heads or tail on what they were trying to do? How does no one know that Yohan has a twin? Why would a mother ask her son to love a random man before dying? Even when Gohan dies, the real Yohan has no sadness, instead he is more interested in kissing the new boy. I mean, this is a classic case of a story been plucked out of thin air. The direction was bad, the acting was unanimously atrocious and the less I talk about the dialogues, the better it is. It is just safe to say that absolutely no one should spend their time on this.
