So, about a decade ago, there were these five movies that made up the whole Takumi-kun series. Now, the creators have come back with a six-episode show, with each part running about 25 minutes. I'm guessing they wanted to introduce a newer generation of BL fans to this world, but honestly, it backfired. The whole thing feels incredibly dated, like it’s completely out of touch with how modern BL shows are made today. Between a cast that’s way too crowded and a mountain of different couples to keep track of, the storytelling is just a total train wreck that doesn't make a lick of sense. The whole thing takes place at an all-boys boarding school. You’ve got Gii, who just moved back from the States and is the son of a super wealthy CEO, and he's roommates with Takumi. Right from the very first episode, Gii is basically obsessed, taking every chance he gets to shout his feelings from the rooftops. Takumi is really shy and has no clue how to handle all that heat, so he just doe...
Pinoy shows other are really well made and classy or they end up being almost trashy with nothing relevant to offer. This one was somewhere in between. A show that showed promise when it started, got completely messed up in middle and then just a meh ending. Even though this was a 10 part series, I saw the one combined version that made it bearable slightly. But, I still think this is a show that can be given a complete miss.
The story is about 6 different individuals. Vlad in a young rich boy and have a driver/care taker. One night on their way back from a meeting, the car breaks down and they have to spend a night in the driver's poor home. This is where they meet the driver's younger brother who takes instant crush on Vlad. The brother also has gotten a job offer in the city to work in a restaurant, where his best friend Bam will take care of him. Meanwhile Vlad slowly, out of the booze, starts to get feelings for his driver. Also this best friend Bam apparently plays has had feelings for his best friend but is worried that this will ruin their friendship. Then there is this third couple, who are like church boys or something preaching and living in dorm but also have some weird relationship going on. The show summary says that this is a story about 6 individuals navigating their own separate lives but having their destinies intertwined through strange twists of fate that are mostly out of their control. Honestly, somewhere in the middle I lost complete interest I any of these and while the sho was going on, my mind was wandering in all different places.
The show wasn't as horrible to be honest, but parts of it just dragged on forever, making me lose my focus. You could fast forward so many scenes in this show and still have not missed anything. The three couple had all interesting story lies and the actors were all half decent but still. There was way too much confusion going around. Some episodes lacking content and progress, while the final episode was overloaded and left many questions unanswered. Also, this may sound bad, but three of the six actors looked very similar. At certain points, I just couldn't differentiate who was playing what character in certain scenes adding even more to my confusion. The script needed a lot more work and also the editing. Sometimes the scenes jumped from one frame to another without giving us a moment to get used to. I would ignore this one too. (3/10)
