Boy Culture

Not knowing hat to expect from the movie, it came as a pleasant surprise. The movie is light, not very heavy on the emotional scenes and keeps your interest throughout the pace of the film. It is rare to see gay cinema that is thoughtful, witty, romantic and sexy all at once. 

The film is shown in the form of narration by 'X'. He is a hustler by profession and has sex only for money. He does not believe in romance or random gay sex. He has 2 room mates Andrew and Joey. Andrew is a black gay male who also does not do hook ups because he believes in romance and this is the only person for whom X has hots for. Although there is a pattern emerging that slowly Andrew is getting into the whole hookup business. Then there is teenager Joey, who totally is in love with X but knows it cant get anywhere. Once X meets a client Gregory who ends up becoming his chat client. He still gets paid and Gregory shares with him his life story of love with a man for last 50 years. During the same time, Andrew is trying to get X to try and date but somehow X can have sex either for money or for love. Andrew wants to give it a try but only when X is ready to. Its clear that both X and Andrew have deeper feelings for each other but neither want to admit. When they both find out what Gregory had been telling X was a farce but it was al because they could realize that it is actually not that difficult to express and accept your love for someone. X and Andrew both realize this soon and are happy together. 

The writing of the film is superb, the direction is crisp and the acting is good. People seem real with real feelings but of course there has to be some melodrama in everything. X emotes a type of vulnerability without giving up his pseudo-macho hustler persona. Andrew is still in his Noah's Arc mode and Joey was also very funny. Btw: X is sexy. There i something raw about his performance which at least I appreciated. I think everyone will enjoy this film. I sure did. (7/10)

Tons of new movies are now available, or should I say tons of crap... Thank God I can Always refer to your blog and find something decent to watch. I had never given this one a chance and I realise now that I should have. X's narration and the use of Grégory's character were both brilliant ideas from the film makers. Not much drama except for Joey sometimes, while X and Andrew appear more mature, still the director manages to deal with a heavy topic in a way that does not shake your heart. Needless to say all three of them are gorgeous in their own way.
The movie might easily have gone wrong, if joey had slept with X, if X had blamed Grégory for his lies, or if X had expressed too much regret at the end. All of this was carefully left aside and that's what makes this film so great.
As a viewer, I am really happy I watched it. It leaves me with a smile on my face.

I am so happy and glad that you liked it. To be honest, you are right that there is so much crap out there, and I wish there was some place where I could go and read before I spent my precious time on some of these really bad films.

Let's say this is your job to watch the crap and let us know!! Jokes aside, even the trailers are misleading sometimes.. Just like series, there are now too many of them and it is getting more and more difficult to pick a good one.

Apparently tis film was adapted by a true story Well, true or not, movies/series about drugs are not easy to watch. I have always said that drugs is like the end of life for anyone. For those who sink into this sea of addiction, some manage to swim upstream to recovery, while others cannot make it to the shore. The film may not be the best, but it does have a noble intention to remind everyone of the evil affects of drugs and combining that with sex. Ah Zhe is in a happy relationship with his influencer boyfriend. On his partner's birthday, they end up going to a party, which interestingly is being hosted at a drug dealer's house and this is where for the first time he is exposed to the world of drugs. The duo somehow do it just enough and come back home but next day Ah She gets invited by the dealer Xiao Fei for a meal. The Shortest Distance is Round 3: Fallen Flowers

Continuing with the weird trilogy of "The Shortest Distance", I am so glad that finally I am done with part 3 and won't have to deal with this again in future. Thankfully, as of now the makers have not announced any further parts; which will save all of us on this earth from the embarrassment of watching this in near future. After the first 10 minutes are used in sort of recapping bits of first two parts, the story moves forward. Haruto is now starting to have feelings for Ruka, the mysterious pole dancer from second part. In a fit of rage, Ruka ends up killing the goat man and to save him and Haruto, Shibahara asks them to go underground. Meanwhile Shibahara continues the search for Seiya (the guy who had cut off Haruto's penis). It turns out Seiya is now also taking care of the original club owner from part 1.
