That Summer (Thai Series)

This is a sweet summer love story set on an island, and the title honestly couldn't be more perfect. The series follows a few different people whose lives cross paths in a seaside town, and it deals with things like grief, healing, and the random ways people fall in love. It takes a pretty familiar romance setup but adds a little twist, which makes the whole thing feel very heartfelt. It’s got 10 episodes that run about 50 to 55 minutes each, and it's a really nice blend of being playful, tender, and romantic. The plot centers on a young guy named Lava, whose mom sends him to live with his Uncle Pheng in a quiet coastal village with his uncle Pheng. This move forces him to grow up a bit and deal with some loss. Everything kicks off when Lava rescues Davin, a prince who has lost his memory after an accident. Since the stranger doesn't know who he is, Lava names him "Wave," and they start this back-and-forth relationship full of teasing and bickering that eventually...

I Can't Think Straight

You definitely would not have seen many reviews on lesbian themed movies and the reason is because I rarely watch them. But this one I had to. It had Indian connection to it and to watch gorgeous Lisa Ray in her second film as a lesbian would be interesting. 

In the upper echelons of traditional Middle Eastern society, Reema and Omar prepare for the marriage of their daughter Tala. But back at work in London, Tala encounters Leyla, a young British Indian woman who is dating Tala's best friend Ali. Tala sees something unique in the artless, clumsy, sensitive Leyla who secretly works to become a writer. Leyla had always suspected of herself being a lesbian but had been fighting against it by trying t date men but ever since she met Tala, she can't help it. On a trip to Oford, the 2 women end up sleeping with each other. Leyla want some meaning to their relationship but Tala is not so sure considering she is already getting married soon. Leyla comes back home and comes out to her family who of course react very strongly but supportive at the same time. Tala is still confused about the whole thing and ultimately calls off her wedding. She now has to woo Leyla back but she wont hear anything because Tala doesn't have the courage to come out to her family. Of course in the end everything is fine. Tala comes out and her and Leyla share a beautiful relationship. 

Lisa Ray as Tala plays her role very beautifully. Sheetal Seth on the other hand acts her part equally convincing as the confused modern girl who ultimately wants to be true to herself and her family. What I liked the best about the film was that it wasn't overdramatic. In fact it seemed funny at times without making fun of anyone. The music was good too. Overall thumbs up for the film. Watch it. You wont be disappointed. (6.5/10)

Apparently tis film was adapted by a true story Well, true or not, movies/series about drugs are not easy to watch. I have always said that drugs is like the end of life for anyone. For those who sink into this sea of addiction, some manage to swim upstream to recovery, while others cannot make it to the shore. The film may not be the best, but it does have a noble intention to remind everyone of the evil affects of drugs and combining that with sex. Ah Zhe is in a happy relationship with his influencer boyfriend. Every person has their own unique way of dealing with loss. This film is as much a psychological thriller as it is a soft porn BDSM portrayal of two young men that makes the film overall horrifying as well as humane. It is really hard to describe the genre of this film in one word. Its important not that the film has some really disturbing scenes so if you go into seeing this film, please proceed with caution. Although any sexual non-consensual activity is not ok, this film has its won strange way of showing that suicide is not the only solution to all life's problems. Makoto is a regular office goer, who just finds out that his girlfriend is probably cheating on him. ON top of it, his parents sudden death coming back from a trip that he forced them to take, he gets completely dejected and decides to commit suicide. The Shortest Distance is Round 3: Fallen Flowers

Continuing with the weird trilogy of "The Shortest Distance", I am so glad that finally I am done with part 3 and won't have to deal with this again in future. Thankfully, as of now the makers have not announced any further parts; which will save all of us on this earth from the embarrassment of watching this in near future. After the first 10 minutes are used in sort of recapping bits of first two parts, the story moves forward. Haruto is now starting to have feelings for Ruka, the mysterious pole dancer from second part. In a fit of rage, Ruka ends up killing the goat man and to save him and Haruto, Shibahara asks them to go underground. Meanwhile Shibahara continues the search for Seiya (the guy who had cut off Haruto's penis). It turns out Seiya is now also taking care of the original club owner from part 1.
