Zecji Nasip (Croatian) Sandbag Dam

This indie film is a really powerful look at how a community can suffocate you and the hidden corners young people have to find just to be themselves in so many European towns, even with all the progress we've seen lately. The whole story plays out while the town is bracing for a massive, raging flood, and you just can't shake the feeling that some kind of intense reckoning or unavoidable doom is headed their way. To be honest, I didn't go in with super high expectations, but the way it’s put together makes it a seriously compelling watch. Plus, it’s not every day you get to see an LGBT-themed movie coming out of Croatia! The story follows Marko, a popular 18-year-old kid who seems to have it all—he’s got a girlfriend, he’s a competitive arm wrestler, and he’s well-liked at school. When he isn't in class, he’s usually hanging out with his brother, who has a disability, or helping his mom out in her greenhouse. Everything gets flipped upside down when a guy named Slaven ...

Oh! Boarding House (Korean Series)

This 8 part series is a very simple love story. Sadly the plot and screenplay is pretty basic and at no point you feel connected to any character. You know exactly where the show is going, what will happen and where the protagonists will end. Thankfully the show is not heavy on drama and is pretty easy going and light hearted watch. At 15 minutes of each episode, it luckily doesn't drag the proceedings too much.

When Seol Won loses a significant money in a scam, his mother lets him stay at the boarding house thats he manages on condition that he will manage the house while she is out on vacation. The house has two other members: one happens to be his cousin, an 18 year student and other isa budding nerdy writer. A new tenant is supposed to move in the house. Cheol Too, happens to be the 18 year old cousin's gym teacher. When Cheol Soo first moved in, he made a heroic first impression by rescuing Seol Won from a dangerous encounter. Since that incident, Seol Won has developed a noticeable crush on his new tenant. But his clumsy attempts lead to always embarrassing situations. But his sincerity eventually wins him over. We also meet a university friend of Seol Won, who has always had a crush on him and he also decides to live in the boarding house. But when he sees the closeness between Seol and Cheol, he decides to take a step back, after sharing his story with Cheol Son and warning him to not lead on and play games with Seol Won.

The romantic track oof the show is sadly very basic and non engaging at all. The couple is very good looking, especially the teacher, but they have absolutely no chemistry and the Strat of the love feels random and sudden. Why does Cheol Soo suddenly have a heart change when he is sick of constant attention is never explained. It feels more like they are forced to be together. The triangle with the university friend is another BL trope that is just added for the sake of it and hoping to create unnecessary drama. The only decent part os when the two men talk about their respective love for Seol. Besides the romance, a lot of time is spent on the goofy and silly housemates. The student and his antics and over the top yet charming. The forced straight love story of the writer and the girl add zero value. While this show does alright with the jokes, the lack of substantial romantic engagement and chemistry makes it a struggle for it to become an engaging drama. Overall, this was strictly average at best and is watchable because of a good looking cast and some zany humor. (5/10)

I have good memories of this one with the silly housemates and good looking leads. It had me laugh quite a few times. Some parts seemed not totally developped but as usual a movie was planned, with certainely additional scenes I guess (they have to stop doing that...)
If you're looking for a korean BL I can recommend semantic error that was nice :)

Sei no Gekiyaku (Japanese) [Dangerous Drugs of Sex]

Every person has their own unique way of dealing with loss. This film is as much a psychological thriller as it is a soft porn BDSM portrayal of two young men that makes the film overall horrifying as well as humane. It is really hard to describe the genre of this film in one word. Its important not that the film has some really disturbing scenes so if you go into seeing this film, please proceed with caution. Although any sexual non-consensual activity is not ok, this film has its won strange way of showing that suicide is not the only solution to all life's problems. Makoto is a regular office goer, who just finds out that his girlfriend is probably cheating on him. ON top of it, his parents sudden death coming back from a trip that he forced them to take, he gets completely dejected and decides to commit suicide. Unknown to him, he is saved by mysterious man Yoda Ryoji, and he wakes up finding himself tied up in leather and belts in a very BDSM setting. This mysterious saver soo...

Drug Shore (Chinese)

Apparently tis film was adapted by a true story Well, true or not, movies/series about drugs are not easy to watch. I have always said that drugs is like the end of life for anyone. For those who sink into this sea of addiction, some manage to swim upstream to recovery, while others cannot make it to the shore. The film may not be the best, but it does have a noble intention to remind everyone of the evil affects of drugs and combining that with sex. Ah Zhe is in a happy relationship with his influencer boyfriend. On his partner's birthday, they end up going to a party, which interestingly is being hosted at a drug dealer's house and this is where for the first time he is exposed to the world of drugs. The duo somehow do it just enough and come back home but next day Ah She gets invited by the dealer Xiao Fei for a meal. The dealer has a soft corner for Ah Zhe, but before anyone realizes, Ah Zhe's life spirals out of control when slowly he starts doing more and more drugs, ...

The Shortest Distance is Round 3: Fallen Flowers

Continuing with the weird trilogy of "The Shortest Distance", I am so glad that finally I am done with part 3 and won't have to deal with this again in future. Thankfully, as of now the makers have not announced any further parts; which will save all of us on this earth from the embarrassment of watching this in near future. After the first 10 minutes are used in sort of recapping bits of first two parts, the story moves forward. Haruto is now starting to have feelings for Ruka, the mysterious pole dancer from second part. In a fit of rage, Ruka ends up killing the goat man and to save him and Haruto, Shibahara asks them to go underground. Meanwhile Shibahara continues the search for Seiya (the guy who had cut off Haruto's penis). It turns out Seiya is now also taking care of the original club owner from part 1. Both of them were released after they had informed Shibahara of Aoyama's secret location. Shibahara tortures Seiya's boyfriend leading to Seiya killin...
