Burrow (USA)
Believing himself to be one of the last survivors left in the wake of human extinction, an ex-war soldier finds unexpected connection with the arrival of a weary traveler, forcing him to reckon with his long avoided sexuality or be left alone forever. It almost felt like an inspired story from Last of Us episode 3 of first season. Extremely high production values and a beautiful execution.

Catboy (Spain)
After scrolling through openly racist and femmephobic profiles and bios on a gay dating app, Marc gets a message from his friend Cacao who invites him to join her at a ballroom. Across the crowded room, he meets the attractive Leo, a contestant in the Catboy Sex Siren category that he can't stop staring at. What a stunningly beautiful male lead!

This moment meant love for the younger boy not realizing that the older guy was already about to leave town. Beautiful story of young first love.

Bad Guy (South Korea)
Ex-lovers Tae Ha and Ji Un reconnect in a café. There, Tae Ha announces that he will soon be getting married. But an evening spent at Ji Un's home reveals that neither man seems happy about the situation. This was a 4 part, 10 min each mini-series, strictly Ok.

Calypso (Mexico)
Inspired by The Odyssey,  this 5 min short offers a sensuous and surprising queer reinterpretation of the classic. Alienated by the outside world, Calypso and Odysseus lay naked in bed allowing their bodies to be warmed up by the light of day, and the realness of touch. This intimate and sensuous rendition unveils the characters’ emotional states through subtle gestures and contemplative portraits, delving into feelings of love, longing and abandonment.

Grandma Nai Who Played Favorites (Cambodia)
Story of a deceased Grandma Nai who, disturbed by her family's visit to her tomb during the Qingming Festival, sneaks out to help her queer grandson. She learns he is about to get engaged to a woman and intervenes to help him stand up for himself, as she has always been known to "play favorites". Beautiful yet funny film at the same time reminding one to be always true to yourself.

El Dance Off (Argentina) [The Dance-Off]

Out of nowhere a drag queen RUBY appears who will stand by Ernesto on his way to becoming a dancer. Charmingly mischievous, RUBY challenges him to a fateful dance off; one that will ultimately and forever encourage him to follow his dancing dreams. Beautiful and charming short film.

Les corneilles blanches (France/Estonia) [The White Crows]

An unexpected friendship and bond forms between the two 'outcasts' helping each other to get through the night. Will Vlad have the courage to finally face his brother? Beautiful short film with an extremely handsome and cute young lead.

RAM (Like the Verb) (USA)
During the casting process for a reality series, an openly gay Asian actor RAM reconciles his sexuality with his career struggles. Rotoscoped with example-based synthesis technology, this film just briefly touches upon the stereotypical expectations of fem gays, Asian gays, gays in films and all of these clubbed together in one man and what this person goes through as his everyday struggles in both professional and personal capacity.

Some Kind of Paradise (USA)
Tyler lives a quiet and uncomplicated life in Paradise, Arkansas. He lives in a trailer, works at a bar and hooks up on Grindr. Until the day a film crew arrives in town from Hollywood and he meets actor Raphael on the app. The man reignites the feeling of love and wanting to be loved in Tyler only to one day then disappear and move on to the next location. A film that reminds you that it's ok to reopen yourself and look for love.

The Choice (India)
A compelling short film that centers on a deeply personal and revealing conversation between a mother and her son about his sexual preference. The film portrays not just a single moment of revelation but the ongoing journey of understanding and acceptance that follows. It is a story of bravery, love, and the transformative power of honest communication within a family.

Totems (France)
This is a story of friendship, love and farewell. When Bastien dies, his group of friends decide to get hold of his sex toy collection before his mother finds out. It’s rare for a short to build enough emotional investment to make me cry. This look at death and sex and love — platonic, maternal, unrequited — balances humor and a genuine sense of loss with unspeakable grace.

Stay (Canada)
Stay is a tender exploration of relationships. On their last night in town, Kaleb- known more commonly by her drag stage name Ivy Diamonds meets Ryan, an artist from Vancouver. The few hours they spend together before Kaleb heads back to his tumultuous relationship bring him an unexpected sense of clarity. Starring Canada's Drag Race legend Kendall Gender, this was a surprisingly touching one night encounter of two strangers.

La Cena (Spain) [The Dinner]
It's dinner time and the son wants to come out his parents. He does so but the folks are confused. They have no idea what is the meaning of "gay" or "homosexual". This is when a fun conversation begins between parents asking embarrassing awkward questions and the on having to explain the concept of man sleeping with another man. I am so glad thats someone made this film because firstly it was very funny and secondly it hit very close to home. I remember when I came out and my parents asked me exactly 'what does gay mean?'

Yaoi Academy (Thailand)
This 2 part short film was about 40 min long and was quite bad. Ice, the cunning businessman, runs a popular online business called 'Y ACADEMY.' It is an online business that creates couples to sell products. Ice needs a new on-screen partner and decides to trick Frame, an innocent "younger brother," into becoming his fake boyfriend. But as their relationship grows, they both learn valuable lessons about life and love.

Pensadero (Argentina) [Overthinker]
Boy meets boy. Almost like any love story - but what happens when you are not only discovering the other person but also yourself? Marco has just separated from his ex-girlfriend and meets Galo, a carefree and pleasant boy who shakes up his world. And the structure. And the thoughts. Because Marco thinks a lot, more than he acts, although his active mind and his hyper-obsessive analysis of everything around him can help him get closer to Galo. Boy gets boy? Very well done.

An introverted young man, tired of hiding his homosexuality, finally decides be brave and tell his father, a tough military man the truth. But his plans falls apart when the young man meets with his father and discovers a past full of intolerance and discrimination. I think this one had big ambitions but it fails short.

Of Hearts and Castles (USA)
A man who's deep in the throes of a break-up meets another man for a night in Los Angeles that will forever keep them connected. The narrative is fractured. It's not delivered chronologically and is really about intimacy - two men who both have their baggage, but that baggage isn't what drives or clutters up the story. A beautiful crafted story about the other and the expected answer to your soul pain.

Life in Love with Nick & Kaiden (UK)
Created as part of a docuseries exploring Gen Z relationships and released as a stand-alone short film, ‘Life in Love with Nick and Kaiden’ observes two young men as they navigate the politics of London’s queer community and their own newfound partnership. Incredibly candid, the film offers a glimpse into the most intimate moments of one young couple’s blossoming love affair.

The Shortest Distance is Round 3: Fallen Flowers

Continuing with the weird trilogy of "The Shortest Distance", I am so glad that finally I am done with part 3 and won't have to deal with this again in future. Thankfully, as of now the makers have not announced any further parts; which will save all of us on this earth from the embarrassment of watching this in near future. After the first 10 minutes are used in sort of recapping bits of first two parts, the story moves forward. Haruto is now starting to have feelings for Ruka, the mysterious pole dancer from second part. In a fit of rage, Ruka ends up killing the goat man and to save him and Haruto, Shibahara asks them to go underground. Meanwhile Shibahara continues the search for Seiya (the guy who had cut off Haruto's penis). It turns out Seiya is now also taking care of the original club owner from part 1. Both of them were released after they had informed Shibahara of Aoyama's secret location. Shibahara tortures Seiya's boyfriend leading to Seiya killin...

Sei no Gekiyaku (Japanese) [Dangerous Drugs of Sex]

Every person has their own unique way of dealing with loss. This film is as much a psychological thriller as it is a soft porn BDSM portrayal of two young men that makes the film overall horrifying as well as humane. It is really hard to describe the genre of this film in one word. Its important not that the film has some really disturbing scenes so if you go into seeing this film, please proceed with caution. Although any sexual non-consensual activity is not ok, this film has its won strange way of showing that suicide is not the only solution to all life's problems. Makoto is a regular office goer, who just finds out that his girlfriend is probably cheating on him. ON top of it, his parents sudden death coming back from a trip that he forced them to take, he gets completely dejected and decides to commit suicide. Unknown to him, he is saved by mysterious man Yoda Ryoji, and he wakes up finding himself tied up in leather and belts in a very BDSM setting. This mysterious saver soo...

One Summer Night (Korean)

I really wanted to like this film but for non native speakers, these movie leaves a lot to be understood and the way scenes were unfolding in front of me, I wasn't sure many times what was really going on. The story had potential button getting any back story on any of the characters limited my ability to empathize with any of these actors. Film starts with two North Korea military guys Yong Joon and Jae Sung having sex and they are caught red handed and they run. Three years later we see Yong Joon in Seoul leading a very mundane and poor life. He has a boyfriend Tae-Kyu, who is a weird guy. He is carefree, doesn't do any work and is completely emotional and financially dependent on Young Joon. In fact, even Yong Joon will go to any lengths to protect him , fend for him and taking care of him to the extent of even taking up prostitution. Suddenly one day Jae Sung appears in their life again. His motivation is not clear but it is obvious he wants Yong Joon back in his life, who ...
