Like all other vertical BL series out there, this one (shot in China) from the US also uses the usual tropes that I have seen so far. Since, it is a gay series, it reframes the familiar manipulation-driven seduction narrative with a twist: instead of targeting a woman, the protagonist is tasked with seducing a male target. Power games, calculated seduction, social hierarchy, and emotional manipulation; all of these form the basis of the otherwise very basic storyline.
Logic, Leo and Celine are the three main characters here. Leo and Celine are step-siblings and for some odd reason Leo wants to get physical with his step-sister. Enter Logic, the university student president, who also happens to be president's son. The first intro doesn't go well. So in a weird scenario, Celine offers to Leo that if he seduces Logic, make him fall in love with him and eventually break his heart; she may finally let him have her. Leo starts aggressively pursuing Logic and it doesn't take long for them to get together. It started kiss inside the classroom and was followed by their hot encounter during Celine’s party. As their connection deepened, Leo struggled to hold onto his promise to Celine. It seemed that he was also falling in love with the man he was supposed to hurt. They, in fact, connect even on personal level. Most of the show focuses on how Leo and now Logic try to come close to one another with multiple various misunderstandings. Leo slowly is facing truly involve with Logic but I guess some part of him still wants to have sex with his step-sister. Anyway, more misunderstandings happen and eventually Leo and Logic declare their love for one another with the sister giving them her approval. There is a mandatory villain, as king's son who shows sexual interest in Leo but Logic makes sure he never touches him. There is some random shooting sequence also towards the end which makes no sense, but whatever.
The series has the mandatory childhood love connection that oh Logic met this girl who had a necklace as a child and since then he has been looking for her. And somehow he thinks he will finder here. Only to find out at the end that it was Leo dressed as a girl playing dress up. As son as Prince entered showing interest in Leo, I almost laughed out because the mandatory villain trope was the only one missing till that point with his late entry. By then we had everything, two men seducing each other who also keep saying that they are straight, an evil girl, childhood girl. Family trauma etc. I guess these shows are still somehow making money for their makers. One good thing about the show is that there is lot of kissing and sex simulation scenes an the actor playing Loe is extremely handsome. Logic was fine but he just did not have the charm and confidence of the student president that you would want. As for the title comes from the fact that they study in "Golden Feather Academy," and the title highlights the "temptation" aspect of this manipulative, high-stakes romantic game. (5.5/10)
