I had the seen the live version of the show a few years back, so honestly I did not remember much. But one episode into this anime and all the memories started to come back. I guess I must have liked the show. The show starts as an office romance between its two leads and then there is another couple as well. The show is quite straight forward and down to earth, which somehow you don't get to see these days. It's 12 episodes each of 24 minutes and the two versions (anime and live) are literally exact copies of each other.
Adachi is a 30 year old guy, who think she is ordinary, dull and boring. And guess what he is also a virgin. He envies Kurosawa, a popular younger coworker who attracts attention due to his handsome looks and natural charisma and a lot of girls seem to like him as well. When Adachi turns 30, he is choked to find that he has received telepathic powers and he can hear what is going on in people's mind as long as he touches them. One morning, Adachi's curiosity got the better of him. He touches Kurosawa to hear what he is thinking. Surprisingly, Adachi discovers his coworker has a secret crush on him. Kurosawa seems confident and poised on the exterior, maintaining a friendly facade. Adachi is very pleasantly surprised to see that a guy like Kurosawa can crush on an ordinary guy like him. The duo start to spend time together. And for whatever reason Kurosawa has so far hidden his feelings for Adachi. The cute office romance slowly starts to build up, first to the level that they confess their feelings for one another, to the point when Adachi tells Kurosawa about his secret power. There is a slight time when they are apart for work reasons but when they finally meet and have sex, Adachi loses his virginty and secret power , which he has no complains of. Besides the main couple, we also have another couple. Adachi's best friend is Tsuge, another 30 approaching shy nerd, who is always in his apartment writing books. His life changes when he takes a liking for a delivery boy. He slowly finds out that this boy Minato has dreams of making big as a dancer. We see how the shy Tsuge slowly starts to come out of his shell to support and be there for Minato and becomes his life supporter. In the process the two guys also find love.
Now that I have seen the anime version and the live Japanese version, I thin I will need to hold off on the Thai version for sometime, otherwise things will start to get repetitive. Despite familiarity with the subject, this anime still holds strongly units own merits. I enjoyed the inner monologues that some Japanese series show as over the top reactions. I totally enjoy those and this anime doesn't disappoint in that department. Having said that I somehow felt that this anime was almost scene to scene same to live version. I was hoping that we would get see at least something different but hat didn't happen (assuming, my memory serves me right). That said, the core of the story and show is still very heartwarming, sweet and gentle. As you would expect, the show takes time to establish its characters and focus on romance. I loved that no time is spent on fillers like side chatters and their life. The focus is entirely in the two couples with majority of Adachi and Kurosawa. As they fall in love, their attraction to each other feels natural. The couple's relationship blossoms in a captivating journey, from heartfelt confessions to passionate kisses. The story encourages compassion and healthy communication. In addition, the series stays true to its rom-com roots by adding lighthearted humour to the narrative. A few harmless jokes will lighten the mood. Tsuge and Minato's story was as endearing as live version. I still, for some reason, remember the actors who played those lead roles. Tsuge, here in anime version seems more nuanced and mature which was good. The anime production was top notch. The series also embraces physical intimacy, not shying away from the couple's affectionate exchanges. Overall it wa everything that I expected from the show. (7.5/10)
