Wreck: Season 2 (UK) (TV Series)

I thought the first season of Wreck was pretty average, so I wasn't quite keen on the sequel. While looking at the stuff backlog that I have to watch, I chanced upon season 2 and watched it and I have to say that I was so underwhelmed with the season 2. After watching the show, I started wondering how do I qualify of a content is LGBTQ+ enough for me to review here or not. Should it focus on issues and sexual identity (which is what my definition has ben most times), but then there comes shows like this, where we have plenty queer characters but it is not about sexuality. They are just in situations they have to deal with and they happen to be gay. Normally I stay away from such because if not for gay storyline or identity or something, I may not have watched some of these series/films in the first place.

Taking it away from the cruise ship, we see Jamie and Vivian now living together alongside Lauren and working to bring their enemies down whatever the cost. The trio are having little luck however, with most of their former co-workers having either gone into hiding or taken pay outs from the ship, including Olly who has since broken up with Jamie because of his obsession with revenge. Lauren manages to get a lead however through new source Ben who is investigating a wellness festival in Slovenia where he found all of the guests dead from apparent poisonings.  Once at the festival Jamie comes face to face with the thought to be dead Pippa, now under a new alias and apparently on the exact same mission. Together can the group defeat another evil power source and save a bunch of innocent festival goers or will Exodum prove even more dangerous than ever before, leaving Jamie and his friends suffering loses bigger than ever?

A disappointing, and largely unnecessary, follow up that was likely not needed, but I guess the makers had to tap in to the popularity of first season. How many times can people realistically find themselves embroiled in some sort of global murder conspiracy? Unlike the first series, there's no actual 'mystery' here to be uncovered...and you're left with slogging through one implausible scenario after another as you wait for another character you're not really invested in to bite the dust. After a point, I just couldn't care about any of these characters and what they are doing. A big part of this second series focussed on the moral dilemma of Jamie’s revenge and how far he was actually willing to go to carry out his mission. I think finding out that Pippa was still alive really changed things for him because her ‘death’ was the whole reason he went undercover in the first place. Initially this was just a search and rescue mission but I think along the way the number of deaths really took its toll and something in Jamie broke, changing him for the worse. Slasher/horror is one genre that I am anyway not fan of and having to sit through this filled me with headache. This supposedly comedy show had me laugh exactly zero times. The definition of comedy has surely changed in today's time. I think I need to stick with my definition of how I define gay content that I can review on my blog. If there is one more season, I am definitely not seeing it unless many changes happen. (2/10)

Sei no Gekiyaku (Japanese) [Dangerous Drugs of Sex]

Every person has their own unique way of dealing with loss. This film is as much a psychological thriller as it is a soft porn BDSM portrayal of two young men that makes the film overall horrifying as well as humane. It is really hard to describe the genre of this film in one word. Its important not that the film has some really disturbing scenes so if you go into seeing this film, please proceed with caution. Although any sexual non-consensual activity is not ok, this film has its won strange way of showing that suicide is not the only solution to all life's problems. Makoto is a regular office goer, who just finds out that his girlfriend is probably cheating on him. ON top of it, his parents sudden death coming back from a trip that he forced them to take, he gets completely dejected and decides to commit suicide. Unknown to him, he is saved by mysterious man Yoda Ryoji, and he wakes up finding himself tied up in leather and belts in a very BDSM setting. This mysterious saver soo...

The Shortest Distance is Round 3: Fallen Flowers

Continuing with the weird trilogy of "The Shortest Distance", I am so glad that finally I am done with part 3 and won't have to deal with this again in future. Thankfully, as of now the makers have not announced any further parts; which will save all of us on this earth from the embarrassment of watching this in near future. After the first 10 minutes are used in sort of recapping bits of first two parts, the story moves forward. Haruto is now starting to have feelings for Ruka, the mysterious pole dancer from second part. In a fit of rage, Ruka ends up killing the goat man and to save him and Haruto, Shibahara asks them to go underground. Meanwhile Shibahara continues the search for Seiya (the guy who had cut off Haruto's penis). It turns out Seiya is now also taking care of the original club owner from part 1. Both of them were released after they had informed Shibahara of Aoyama's secret location. Shibahara tortures Seiya's boyfriend leading to Seiya killin...

One Summer Night (Korean)

I really wanted to like this film but for non native speakers, these movie leaves a lot to be understood and the way scenes were unfolding in front of me, I wasn't sure many times what was really going on. The story had potential button getting any back story on any of the characters limited my ability to empathize with any of these actors. Film starts with two North Korea military guys Yong Joon and Jae Sung having sex and they are caught red handed and they run. Three years later we see Yong Joon in Seoul leading a very mundane and poor life. He has a boyfriend Tae-Kyu, who is a weird guy. He is carefree, doesn't do any work and is completely emotional and financially dependent on Young Joon. In fact, even Yong Joon will go to any lengths to protect him , fend for him and taking care of him to the extent of even taking up prostitution. Suddenly one day Jae Sung appears in their life again. His motivation is not clear but it is obvious he wants Yong Joon back in his life, who ...
