Gay Days is a documentary that dives into how the LGBTQ+ community really started to find its voice in Israel. Back in 1985, there were literally only three gay men who were officially out in the whole country, but by 1998, that number had jumped to 3,000. It’s a look at this super short, intense, and dramatic window of time where Israel went through one of the fastest and most vibrant social revolutions at the end of the 20th century. What’s wild is that this whole shift happened without any blood being spilled; instead, it was this rare team-up between professors, sex workers, trans people, singers, barbers, and even military officers. The director, Yair Qedar, was right there filming it all for his own newspaper called The Pink Times . He uses some really cool old footage, personal stories, and his own private diary to piece together this energetic and bittersweet musical mix of a movie. The film follows Qedar’s own path as a kid from middle Israel who moved to Tel Aviv in...
This film is a classic example of how and why to NOT make films and torture the audience with stupid experiments. This was such a waste of my 1.5 hours that I am never gonna get back ever. A terrible film by every standard , this should never have been made.
A group of 4 youngsters performing on July 4th in 1984 piss of an old lady who curses them that the four kids are doomed to wander the titular island for eternity. Only on the full moons will they get a chance to come out of the curse if they can convince 4 others to put on their clothes and perform. Now we are in present day 2007, we meet Jack who has just joined fraternity and his boyfriend is a frat vet. The senior along with many other seniors have one last initiation for new frat members to spend the night at the hell island. We are also introduced to plenty other weird characters; shady dean of the college, Jack’s clown room mate, a runaway patient from a mental institution and a possessive girlfriend of one of the senior frats. All these people end up on the island that night and then dead bodies start popping up everywhere. A silly clown goes around the island killing and no one can do anything about it. There is no real gay angle because his sexuality has nothing to do with any of this. He just happens to be alive with another closet gay couple. The annoying seniors get into 1984 and release the curse of previous folks. Dean turns out to be the killer. blah blah blah
This movie was so camp, that it cannot be taken seriously even for one second. Every single actor is busy acting over the top. It's almost embarrassing to watch at times. Also the killings are horribly done. Most of them happen off-camera or from a distance with the fakest stage blood I've ever seen. The dialogues are terrible. The interactions don’t make sense at all. The random ending comes with a sudden back story out of nowhere. The killings are so dumb. One tiny little clown and no one in the. group has the balls to fight the man. They just run. I mean, common. The only good thing is some gay kissing and nude back shots but thats it. And for whatever reason only the 2 gay couples and a girl are safe in the end and rest everyone dies. There is not even a slightest sympathy for people who have died.
Avoid at all costs! This movie has nothing to offer. (1/10)
