Queerstralia (Documentary Series)

I just finished watching  Queerstralia , which is a three-part documentary about the hidden history of LGBTQIA+ people in Australia. It’s hosted by a comedian named Zoe Coombs Marr. To be honest, I didn't know who she was before this, so it took me a little while to get used to her specific style of joking around. The show covers a huge amount of time, starting from when Australia was a prison colony for the British all the way to famous movies like  Priscilla, Queen of the Desert . It looks at how being gay was treated as a crime, the stories of trans pioneers, and even "bushrangers" (outlaws) who dressed in clothes of the opposite sex. It also goes into the history of the Mardi Gras festival, drag culture, and how gay marriage finally became legal there. The host starts the show by jokingly saying, "I’m a comedian, I’m not qualified," which tells you right away it's not going to be a stiff or boring history lesson. Das Trio (German) [The Trio]

Now this one truly for me was a different film. A different set of characters, different chemistry among them and focussing on a completely new story. It was nice to watch it. Not that it is a path breaking cinema or anything but I like fact that the director tried to do something new. At least from my perspective. Zobel and Karl are a long time gay coouple with their daughter Lizzie. The form a trio of pick pocketers who steal from rich to live. As the despondent Karl grows more insecure, dissatisfied and absent-minded, the possibility of a new partner is bandied about by father and daughter. An unfortunate accident of Karl leaves no choice for the other two but put their faith on a young man named Rudolf who once tried to steal from them. Rudolf is also a very sexy, shambling young upstart who is only too willing to gratify the father/daughter team in whatever ways it takes to become part of the scheme team. Rudolf has affair with Lizzie and at the same time he is also sexual with Zobel. When the truth is out Lizzie walks away and Rudolf follows him. They try to lead a simple life working but thats not good for them. Meanwhile Zobel is living under guilt of sleeping with the man whom his daughter liked. Lizzie and Rudolf come back and talk about forming a team with the condition that money will be split equally. Clearly tables have turned now and Zobel is no longer the boss. Ultimately they continue their life robbing. The movie ends with Rudolf walking with Lizzie while his other hand playing with Zobel's hand. The film is simple, funny and warm. The story line is sweet and the ending is darling. The acting by all lead characters is decent. It is not a sleaze film. There is actually an intelligent plot abetted by four supremely professional actors who make it all worthwhile. Worth a watch. (6/10)

Every person has their own unique way of dealing with loss. This film is as much a psychological thriller as it is a soft porn BDSM portrayal of two young men that makes the film overall horrifying as well as humane. Drug Shore (Chinese)

Apparently tis film was adapted by a true story Well, true or not, movies/series about drugs are not easy to watch. I have always said that drugs is like the end of life for anyone. For those who sink into this sea of addiction, some manage to swim upstream to recovery, while others cannot make it to the shore. The film may not be the best, but it does have a noble intention to remind everyone of the evil affects of drugs and combining that with sex. Ah Zhe is in a happy relationship with his influencer boyfriend. On his partner's birthday, they end up going to a party, which interestingly is being hosted at a drug dealer's house and this is where for the first time he is exposed to the world of drugs. The duo somehow do it just enough and come back home but next day Ah She gets invited by the dealer Xiao Fei for a meal. The Shortest Distance is Round 3: Fallen Flowers

Continuing with the weird trilogy of "The Shortest Distance", I am so glad that finally I am done with part 3 and won't have to deal with this again in future. Thankfully, as of now the makers have not announced any further parts; which will save all of us on this earth from the embarrassment of watching this in near future. After the first 10 minutes are used in sort of recapping bits of first two parts, the story moves forward. Haruto is now starting to have feelings for Ruka, the mysterious pole dancer from second part. In a fit of rage, Ruka ends up killing the goat man and to save him and Haruto, Shibahara asks them to go underground. Meanwhile Shibahara continues the search for Seiya (the guy who had cut off Haruto's penis). It turns out Seiya is now also taking care of the original club owner from part 1.
