This Hindi movie is a pretty straightforward slice-of-life story that tries to give a modern look at what it's like to be a single, professional gay man. It dives into how he understands who he is, the chances he missed out on, and the personal choices he’s made along the way. The director used three parallel timelines to tell the story, which honestly didn't make much sense to me. While the core idea was actually pretty interesting, I really feel like this would have worked way better as a short film considering the point it was trying to make. Still, it wasn't a bad watch. The plot centers on Rachit, a city professional, and his friend Shikhar as they hang out for an evening. Rachit is a polished, urban guy, while Shikhar has more of a "small-town" rustic vibe, and you can really see the contrast between them when they talk. As the night goes on, Rachit starts thinking back to some old memories from a long time ago. He remembers being an intern after college in ...
This series has such basic paper thin premise in the first place, that its choppy and uniteresting execution doesn't help it much. The premise somewhat reminded me of the series where people and color blind and there is only one person in the world in whose proximity, they can function. We are told of two kinds of people. Zhen_yuan are the people who are deprived o all senses and emotions so they're able to focus better on things and have a better intuition. Then we have Deluded, who have hard time keeping their feelings in check. If a Zhen-Yuan is in a Deluded vicinity, they'll be able to feel emotions and their senses will be restored. And the Deluded will be able to calm down his own violent feelings.
Keeping the above in mind, Jiang Yi Feng is a handsome Esports player with no taste, sense of touch and can't see the color. Lu Lin is a famous idol currently admired by many fans. Jiang Yi Feng posts a bad comment about him on social media when he thinks his sister is too distracted by Lu Lin and not focusing on her studies. This results in the two having bad impressions of each other and facing off. When they met first time, they both realize that they are Zhen-Yuan and Deluded. Slowly to help each other, they get close and finally fall in love with one another.
My first question is why did this have to be a series of 12 episodes with 5 minutes each. It would have been much better off with one big uninterrupted film. The drama has no actual substance in it. They took a decent premise but the execution is just terrible and amateurish. The two leads have decent chemistry but the screenplay is so bad, that it just doesn't let their characters grow. Of course because of Chinese laws, parts where the main leads hug in bed, or kiss would be cut off and skipped, and not too subtly either. The frame would just randomly cut, no transition whatsoever, as if the director wanted to purposefully tell the viewers "we filmed it, they acted it, but the censorship took out the fun parts". All above and a very very odd title makes this show a terrible watch and an absolute waste of time. Lu Lin's good look and charms can only work for so long. (2/10)
