This Hindi movie is a pretty straightforward slice-of-life story that tries to give a modern look at what it's like to be a single, professional gay man. It dives into how he understands who he is, the chances he missed out on, and the personal choices he’s made along the way. The director used three parallel timelines to tell the story, which honestly didn't make much sense to me. While the core idea was actually pretty interesting, I really feel like this would have worked way better as a short film considering the point it was trying to make. Still, it wasn't a bad watch. The plot centers on Rachit, a city professional, and his friend Shikhar as they hang out for an evening. Rachit is a polished, urban guy, while Shikhar has more of a "small-town" rustic vibe, and you can really see the contrast between them when they talk. As the night goes on, Rachit starts thinking back to some old memories from a long time ago. He remembers being an intern after college in ...
This film is about two young men's first love. But more, it is also the cinematic memory of one of the partners some years later. So, it is first "about me" and then "about us" in my memory. Its actually a really simple film is some sense.
Diego and Matheus met sometime back and there is an instant connection. The two of them slowly start to get to know each other and fall in love. Diego likes photography and dreams of making a film one day. Matheus is an architect who loves plants and gardening. They take walks together, hang out together, share passionate moments; literally every single minute together ad you can easily tell they are madly passionately in love. But Diego can't let go of his dream of making a film. When he gets into a film school in California for 4 years, he decides to leave everything and pursue his passion.Ten years later, back in Brazil, he decides to make a film about their relationship. This biopic shows how passion can increase people's motivation in life, but also shows how making choices can be cruel for passion.
The story of the film is real simple. Almost 75% os the film is just following the 2 boys madly in love and all kinds of moments that you would expect a loving young couple to share. The two actors have the most amazing chemistry, but that's it. As an audience, I wasn't really interested in their love for some reason. Despite good chemistry, it didn't seem real. And after a while their mundane life events seem so boring. I just waited forever for something to happen but you keep seeing scenes after scenes of their living together and learning to accept each other. The only conflict (if you can even call it that) is when its time to go to film school. There is no explanation on why Matheus doesn't want to go with him to US. They just drift apart and the film randomly ends and it started. It feels more like a project than an actual film.
I just did not connect with this film at all. Besides the good looking actors and good chemistry they share, there literally is nothing worth talking about. (3.5/10)
