This Hindi movie is a pretty straightforward slice-of-life story that tries to give a modern look at what it's like to be a single, professional gay man. It dives into how he understands who he is, the chances he missed out on, and the personal choices he’s made along the way. The director used three parallel timelines to tell the story, which honestly didn't make much sense to me. While the core idea was actually pretty interesting, I really feel like this would have worked way better as a short film considering the point it was trying to make. Still, it wasn't a bad watch. The plot centers on Rachit, a city professional, and his friend Shikhar as they hang out for an evening. Rachit is a polished, urban guy, while Shikhar has more of a "small-town" rustic vibe, and you can really see the contrast between them when they talk. As the night goes on, Rachit starts thinking back to some old memories from a long time ago. He remembers being an intern after college in ...
Thanks to the digital era, so many people are coming up individual shows, short skits which are easily accessible on platforms like youtube. Some of these can be really funny while others have room for growth. This show is strictly ok and can use some good constructive feedback for season 2, if they ever come up with. The series is about 10 episodes each between 10-15 minutes of running time.
This series is a comedy - drama about a gay, Christian, chronic masturbator named Tyler. Feeling stifled by college and ostracized by his conservative family, Tyler abruptly drops out of college and moves from Texas to New York City to pursue his career as an actor and singer-songwriter. Each week as we follow him through starting a new life. Starting with him getting shocked by tiny NYC apartments, his nudist room mate who shows up anytime naked, it is a rollicking comical view. Then we have his best friend Alex, who moves to NY and finally his first love. They broke up few years ago and will this be Tyler's chance to find true love again? Of course, all this happens between auditions before he finally gets to sing a song on a stage in a bar.
Tyler's monologues started off as funny but over a period of time they got repetitive. Even the format. It was like I knew exactly what to expect and somehow tat took away from the fun element. my favorite was the nudist room mate and his blank expressions as if everything was ok. Scenes between him and Tyler were some of the funniest. Alex and Tyler had good chemistry but somehow the chemistry as BFF's was missing. Tyler and his love Greg slowly work on their relationship and I believe, there is a scope for reconnection there. As mentioned the series is more about disjointed events in Tyler's life and him navigating in a new city.
Don't Suck examines the universal goal of not sucking. All ten episodes are available for free on youtube. (5/10)
