Avsar (Hindi) [Opportunity]

This Hindi movie is a pretty straightforward slice-of-life story that tries to give a modern look at what it's like to be a single, professional gay man. It dives into how he understands who he is, the chances he missed out on, and the personal choices he’s made along the way. The director used three parallel timelines to tell the story, which honestly didn't make much sense to me. While the core idea was actually pretty interesting, I really feel like this would have worked way better as a short film considering the point it was trying to make. Still, it wasn't a bad watch. The plot centers on Rachit, a city professional, and his friend Shikhar as they hang out for an evening. Rachit is a polished, urban guy, while Shikhar has more of a "small-town" rustic vibe, and you can really see the contrast between them when they talk. As the night goes on, Rachit starts thinking back to some old memories from a long time ago. He remembers being an intern after college in ...

Gay Short Films : 113

Wren Boys (UK)
It’s the day after Christmas, and Father Conor, a priest from County Cork, drives his nephew to prison to visit one of the inmates. The surprise is that the nephew is there to marry his boyfriend who is in prison, but within the prison walls different rules apply, and life is often overshadowed by the threat of violence. What a brilliant short film!! In such a short time, the way the characters arcs are developed and shown are sometime not reached in full fledged films.

Adán y Esteban (Argentina)
A simple short of two best friends, one getting drunk on a night and seducing the friend. The friend meanwhile was always into him. The next morning they get into discussion around random things. Two bodies that meet in the middle and a sunrise that sheds light on fears and evaporates them with the sun's rays. Good nudity with full penis shots was the only good thing in this otherwise average short film.

Invincible Summer (Belgium)
One hot summer evening. Alone at home, by the pool and bored to death, 16-year-old Clément is killing boredom by swiping guys' profiles on a dating app. Determined to lose his virginity, he lies about his age on his date with Naël, a young man 8 years his senior. As the moment of intimacy approaches, Clément is rushing things... But it is by discovering a body completely different from Naël's that Clément will grow up.

Fake Buddies (South Korea) (Mini-Series)
A straight couple gets suspicious when they see how close their partners are to their respective friends of same sex. They both smell fishy. Eventually the secret is revealed that the boy and the girl actually are in love with their respective best friends (making them gay and lesbian) and then we see how and when these friends became lovers. It is a good 45 min film but an easy watch. Also not very much happening to write a full on review.

Des Oranges en Été (France)
Rafael is spending summer in a village and is very bored. One day he randomly meets another boy there who and they start spending time together and ignites passion and love in Rafa's life, only t o disappear as randomly as he had appeared. This was a very weird yet pretty film, but the very visible Call Me By Your Name inspiration was too in your face.

Me quiere, no me quiere (Spain) [He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not]
On a hot summer morning, Arnau accompanies his mother to her workplace, a luxury house. There he meets the son of the family, Javier, for whom he feels an instant crush but doesn't give it any importance as he thinks he will never see him again. But it's not like that, they meet again a couple years later and it's a beginning of a new ver cute love story.

Connor & Jayden (USA)
Extremely popular high school star football player Connor has a life-changing day at school when, because of a broken leg, he signs up for a cooking class and meets Jayden. The two high school boys soon form a friendship and Connor asks Jayden out for a movie date. Soon enough they kiss and Conor asks him out for prom date, eight months early, giving them enough time to fall in love. A positive, no nonsense gay love story, trying to normalize everyday things.

Michael Joseph Jason John (USA)
A romantic thriller that explores the emotional aftermath of a one-night stand (and the inherent risks of hook-up culture) as a lonely man imagines what life might be like with a mysterious stranger he picks up on the New York City subway. I feel this short film could have been so much more, but it ended up being a simple story of a guy longing for the guy from one night stand.

My Best Friend (USA)
Sometimes all the answers are right in front of us. A film about friendship and truth. About self acceptance and about the other. Two friends, who may have lingering feelings for one another spend a night talking before one of them is about to leave. There is way too much talking in this short but has a nice kiss at the end.

Sexfluencing (UK)
Milan is a single queer influencer living in London. Through his vlog, he pulls us into a strange dreamland world full of hook-ups and urban flings. The mini-series brings together 5 self-contained episodes about sexuality, intimacy and the relationships that shape the queerness around us. I did not find this funny at all.

Alirón 2 (Spain)
This continues from the first part where a sexual tension grows between two straight friends watching a football game. The film delves into uncharted waters where Marc and Fran wanna give its go but the intricate dance between desire and uncertainty goes on because neither had an idea on what to do. This sequel  fearlessly confronts the taboo with a refreshing blend of humor, heart, and unapologetic sensuality. I enjoyed it a lot. Short and sweet.

A Place To Stay (USA)
Kansas City 1959: When Andy's boyfriend leaves him, Andy makes a trip to confront him and discovers his lover's double life, where he has a job, a wife and even two kids. The film show sun the need for attachment even if it means using blackmail brute force of types, but salvages itself by a clever ending. In the short time frame, the film captures a lot and definitely has a potential for a full length feature films. The actors were fantastic.

Incomplete (USA)
Incomplete tells the story of a man sharing a letter about longing for someone he has never met. It explores loneliness and poses a question: do we need another person in life to feel complete or are we missing a connection with ourselves? In essence, a short film about loneliness, need of the other, derire to be loved and bitterness of mornings. It was odd !!

La parte de su vida que quiere mostrarme (Spain) [The Part of His Life He Wants to Show Me]
Joan is a boy trapped in an obsession: spying on his neighbor every day, to the point of falling in love with him. He looks at his naked body, praising every part of it and fantasizes about the idea of one day being able to have a meeting. Will he be able to take the bold step of making the first move and talk to the guy. This short film is sexy, erotic and definitely worth watching.

How to Say I Love You at Night (USA)
When Paul shows up unannounced, he catches Benny off guard, throwing their first encounter into an agonizing seventeen minutes of posturing, captured in a single take and leading to Paul revealing his true motivation. Dealing with notions of male on male intimacy, violence and socioeconomic differences, this film suggests that the differences among us are often first embedded as fears.

Honey To The Moon (Mexico)
A surreal journey through a relationship between Moon and Sun, two wandering souls surprised by desire during a moment of reflection. Traveling through the most seductive and tender experiences, the passage of time, and ultimately through the shadows of societal prescribed affection, Moon falls deep into orbit with Sun. Weird but visually stunning and extremely sexy.

Lazzaro Vieni Fuori (Italy) [Lazarus Come Out]
A gay themed short dramedy about a hide-gay priest who lives a feud/love for a ostentatious gay guy who pops into his church. Two young lovers are in a church preparing to present a play, while the priest wonders if they are gay nor not (which they are since he sees them kissing). Seductive for the precise mix of sweet and bitter.

Drug Shore (Chinese)

Apparently tis film was adapted by a true story Well, true or not, movies/series about drugs are not easy to watch. I have always said that drugs is like the end of life for anyone. For those who sink into this sea of addiction, some manage to swim upstream to recovery, while others cannot make it to the shore. The film may not be the best, but it does have a noble intention to remind everyone of the evil affects of drugs and combining that with sex. Ah Zhe is in a happy relationship with his influencer boyfriend. On his partner's birthday, they end up going to a party, which interestingly is being hosted at a drug dealer's house and this is where for the first time he is exposed to the world of drugs. The duo somehow do it just enough and come back home but next day Ah She gets invited by the dealer Xiao Fei for a meal. The dealer has a soft corner for Ah Zhe, but before anyone realizes, Ah Zhe's life spirals out of control when slowly he starts doing more and more drugs, ...

Sei no Gekiyaku (Japanese) [Dangerous Drugs of Sex]

Every person has their own unique way of dealing with loss. This film is as much a psychological thriller as it is a soft porn BDSM portrayal of two young men that makes the film overall horrifying as well as humane. It is really hard to describe the genre of this film in one word. Its important not that the film has some really disturbing scenes so if you go into seeing this film, please proceed with caution. Although any sexual non-consensual activity is not ok, this film has its won strange way of showing that suicide is not the only solution to all life's problems. Makoto is a regular office goer, who just finds out that his girlfriend is probably cheating on him. ON top of it, his parents sudden death coming back from a trip that he forced them to take, he gets completely dejected and decides to commit suicide. Unknown to him, he is saved by mysterious man Yoda Ryoji, and he wakes up finding himself tied up in leather and belts in a very BDSM setting. This mysterious saver soo...

The Shortest Distance is Round 3: Fallen Flowers

Continuing with the weird trilogy of "The Shortest Distance", I am so glad that finally I am done with part 3 and won't have to deal with this again in future. Thankfully, as of now the makers have not announced any further parts; which will save all of us on this earth from the embarrassment of watching this in near future. After the first 10 minutes are used in sort of recapping bits of first two parts, the story moves forward. Haruto is now starting to have feelings for Ruka, the mysterious pole dancer from second part. In a fit of rage, Ruka ends up killing the goat man and to save him and Haruto, Shibahara asks them to go underground. Meanwhile Shibahara continues the search for Seiya (the guy who had cut off Haruto's penis). It turns out Seiya is now also taking care of the original club owner from part 1. Both of them were released after they had informed Shibahara of Aoyama's secret location. Shibahara tortures Seiya's boyfriend leading to Seiya killin...
