This Hindi movie is a pretty straightforward slice-of-life story that tries to give a modern look at what it's like to be a single, professional gay man. It dives into how he understands who he is, the chances he missed out on, and the personal choices he’s made along the way. The director used three parallel timelines to tell the story, which honestly didn't make much sense to me. While the core idea was actually pretty interesting, I really feel like this would have worked way better as a short film considering the point it was trying to make. Still, it wasn't a bad watch. The plot centers on Rachit, a city professional, and his friend Shikhar as they hang out for an evening. Rachit is a polished, urban guy, while Shikhar has more of a "small-town" rustic vibe, and you can really see the contrast between them when they talk. Gump and Nai are a stable couple of about a year now. When its time for Gump to go to university, his mother finds him an apartment that he can share with her best friend's nephew, since the room is close to university. Initially when Gump finds this, he is reluctant to be away from Nai, but once he sees that his room mate is a hot guy Sunz (supposedly straight and dealing with heartbreak), he is more than eager to move in. Of course this makes Nai worried about their love. Right before Gump is to leave, Nai's old classmate comes back from China to spend a week with him and this creates worry for Gump. Essentially the love of the love birds is tested and they both get entangled in their own insecurities. Just before Nai's friend is supposed to go back (and it seems like he is Nai's ex), Gump watches Nai kiss this guy and he is heart broken. Nai realizes his mistake and then spends next few days trying to apologize to Gump with the help of friends and win his love back successfully.
The central couple, Gump and Nai, are very cute, especially Nai, and the secondary characters include some major eye candy. The movie has low to average production value and was probably made at a very modest budget. As mentioned before, its essentially a story about a couple dealing with their insecurities in this relationship. The conflicts in terms of a straight guy on whom Gump is lusting over and Nai's ex coming into the scene adds interesting twist but thankfully none of that goes over the top dramatic. However, the drama and the final apology by Nai was a little too extreme. All they had to do was just sit and talk. Also, I am still wondering why did Nai kiss the other guy in the first place? Talking of kiss, this infidelity kiss of Nai with his ex was so much more passionate than any of his kiss with Gump which is so weird. Overall, this is a very average film, very basic, with charming actors and simple story of love, misunderstanding and winning back love. The direction and editing could have been better. Some of the side characters add good fun and I was surprised how ripped they all are. I am not complaining about the eye-candy. (5/10)
